funks...t68m I had may have been euro or hong kong version. I picked it up earlier in the year in LA...a predominantly chinese area...anyways, I flashed it originally with the Eastern Euro version, then gsmphonesource in Vegas did an emma2 flash to Western Euro set, I believe, because it has the French, Spanish, English and Portuguese....and this is how I believe it ended up with one 2 one.

Anyways, I got my new Cingular t68i back from emma2 in Vegas, but was told that emma2 still recognized it as a Cingular phone and would not allow me to flash anything but North American language set on it. This is after I already flashed it with my latest R5DEuro...so there is something in the hardware that original service providers hardcode and can't be removed from simple flashing.

Let me know...

Av,
From what I know the Emma II check the IMEI to determine which language set and upgrades that the phone eligible. That's why using the EMMA II method, you cannot go from t68i to t68ie for example....

So the only way to get around this is the non-emma II flashing methods. Or if you can change your IMEI (but then it is illegal from what i know).

sevenfire...ahhh so simple and yet I overlooked it...yes, I believe that you are absolutely correct about the hardware imei verification that emma2 does. But then again, I'm caught b/n a rock and a hard place...I only want emma2 to to update phone because I want to dump the clean fw to post for you guys, with diff lang. sets. But I can't go and change the imei number very readily, can I? Unles I don't intend to use the phone...can I paste a valid imei number from a phone say, in europe, let emma2 flash it, and than paste the imei (orig.) back again to dump the fw...what do you guys think?

Definitely not anticipating doing anything illegal..never, but in the interest of get better fw...not even inserting a chip...oh well, other than that, pretty stuck now.

AV,
I never tried to change IMEI using the client before, so i dunno if it works or not. I know in other forum, some people said it works fine and others said it screwed up the phone. Anyway it is your phone man, whatever you do with your phone, only you know ...so it's up to u..just be careful .

I'm personally thankful for your effort to provide us with good firmwares. Keep the good work!:).

Here's another success story for the BT failure fix following the procedure I talked about

Quote:

Hi,

Gdaswani, greeeeat news!

I decided to risk a little bit more... I flashed a T68i (Bluetooth problems) with the R5C AVR firmware, then the blank ARM. Then, reseted the phone again and flashed the ARM part of the R5C firmware. It worked! Bluetooth now works fine!

Many thanks!

Julio

Hey funks...great work man, you're probably onto something there...Just a quick question, your site where all of the files are, is it just an ftp site or is it an http where one can look at the files before downloading...I know this sounds dumb, but better now and clear everything up before the mess, know what I mean?

Great work...I am also getting some phones in from others who've just purchased their phones, from everywhere...let's see, Asterdam, London, Paris, Johannisburg, Aucland and Hong Kong. I don't know if the phones will be available in all of these locations, but I've asked my field offices to take on a another "personal" project of mine. Hopefully soon, we'll be able to have all of the language sets and all of the clean dumps as I've envisioned.

I will be goiing over to your site right after this...thanks for the efforts of putting it together.

Where can I get EMMA2? In this thread you only talked about ericsclient. And where do I buy logs for use with EMMA2? Is it the same as with ericsclient?

It's just an HTTP site, I don't make the files available via FTP but can do so no probs.. I'll move them later tonight to the FTP server instead..

Thanks, seems that you are brewing up a storm over there..

cedchung...emma2 is proprietary to S/E authorized service centers..or heavy handed approved developers. I can get an emma2 setup, but the cost is not rational...just a few phones and only to get the latest fw's...definitely not cost efficient.

Here in the states, just stick to what everyone is doing here in the boards...they are also indicating locations where your phone can be upgraded...great source of 411 here indeed!

funks..here's another kicker..in a week or so, I've authorized my family to spend the money to transfer ownership of a cell phone depot in the Bay Area (Northern Cal). So guess what? Brand new phones at my disposal!!!! Ha ha ha....I can't wait to start playing around with t-mobile, at&t, cingular...etc. I have also ordered the development prerelease p800 package...should work out great!

Have a great weekend!

Man, that's great.. Hopefully you'll get non-branded phones there too

BTW, for those peeps wanting the firmware files, you can ftp them out from

ftp://ftp.marketgroups.com/pub/firmwares

my website is at

funks..

Again, your perseverence has led to some great news regarding bluetooth recovery. Thanks for the great info! Feel free to drop by our office some time if you have any phones that are completely messed up due to remote flashing. I would have absolutely no problem letting you use our software/hardware tools.

av0135..

I'm still away for another week or so, but when I return, bring all the phones that you have, and we'll update them to the latest firmware revision. Well, don't bring all of them.. just a few.

Hello Sung, remember that night I was talking to you and gave me the tip? Well my wife castrated me because I didn't go to sleep - trying a mind bogling array of flashing combos - ehehe.. Finally was successfull in getting my BT lobotomized T68i back..

BTW, I can definitely confirm it works - another BT fix success story

Another success fixing bluetooth!
Just flashed my phone back to its original firmware using gdaswani's instructions and bluetooth works again!!!!! Thanks george!! Not sure if I will try to flash again...

I think I am actually going to be selling my t68i - I just think the menus are too slow. If anyone is interested in an unlocked adriatic blue t68i with chatboard, flahing cable, and charging stand, let me know!!

I think my next phone will be the Siemens S55!

Eric

And I'm still only puzzled by the Cingular phone...but you know me, I'll get to the bottom of it soon!!! Take care of yourself and be safe!

I believe that this thread is appropriate for the following question:

Has anyone here, with GPRS activated on their accounts (any acct. but especially Cingular since that is what I have), found that GPRS does not connect anymore after they flashed their fones with any of the variants of R5D007?

Mine died about 2.5 weeks ago..WAP still works, can still dial up and log in, but everytime I tried to log into GPRS, it came back with:

"GPRS Failed" or "Connection Error".

I know it works cause I've been using it for 2 months..so tonite I'm going to try to put the EasternEuro back on and see if that helps...

Also, can anyone confirm that the process of dumping fw from fone is thoroughly better on a slower machine? This is my finding..I'm almost certain of it. Thanks.
