I dont care about HD video in the K800i, i just want a phone with up to date features.
QVGA video recording should be standard now, and as good as the Samsung D600's. However, 6 months or more after that phones release, SE still have old video.
Its not about expecting the earth, just wanting up to date features every other rival handset seems to have.

I don't care about video. For how long is that fun in a mobile phone? About as long as the camera is fun... I've had camera mobile phones since the T68i with the camera add-on, I've had T610, Z1010, S700 and now I'm getting the K800. With all these phones I maybe took a total of 100 pics... So I'll live without some half ass video camera. =)

interesting debate on video quality on phone....
well N92 isn't out yet and Nokia N93 is announced
N92 get delayed by 1Q.....this time I wonder the same thing will happen to N93.
regardless of how power tht phone can be even if it have Super G wifi or duo core to run Symbian...i will not give a try on such ugly phone.
SE didn't make K800/ K790 come with UMA or WiFI ability...i just wonder they will launch a special accesories module for K800/ K750/ W900/ W800 which allow them to have wifi access thru hotspot hehehe.
Yes I might be ignoring all the difficulties to get this done thru electronics but won't it be nice we discuss about this rather than comparing N93 with K800 which will really be a bias comparison since sonyericsson only trying to make a phone with good camera ability while N93 is a smart phone who try to be everything!!!
It is only worth to compare N93 with P990 or maybe the rumoured handy cam phone once it is announced. |

Well I don't care about certain individuals here not interested in video quality, I am VERY interested so that's important to me because that is the only reason I will upgrade from K750, otherwise will wait for next video phone release in small package.
I think SE are on wrong side at the moment with release of phones with very little enhancements over previous models (W810, W700, K800 ...) I will be very sad to change my favourite brand durning all this years, just look D600 features-size (TV out WOW!) and this phone is like almost an year old !? |

this bring up another nice option
take picture/ video/ download music into your K800
as you can afford a K800...why not go ahead and get a MMV200 media centre...plug it into your TV set and then use bluetooth for tv output
well tht's way cooler than samsung which need a cable for tv output.
as MMV200 also let you plug in some of those general format memory card used in market...and this is open up the option for you.
Best part is....even when SE launch a handycam phone.....you still only need bluetooth to transmit the video for playback on TV.
See....SE already think so far ahead for accesories to product
yes they are slow in getting some of the high technology stuff where the tiny country I stay didn't have (3G nationwide) or the people in the country I stay really knowa bout. |

@Blade Runner You think that there are Very Little Enhancemnets from the K750 to the K800? Well let's LIST the changes real quick so that we can see what your definition of Marginal is:
Camera: 2.0 upgraded to 3.2mp
Camera: added Image Stabilization and Best shot selector
Screen: 220x176 upgraded to 320x240 size upgraded by 10%
Frequency: - Added a model with 850mhz
Data: GPRS upgraded to EDGE and 3G (k790/k800 respectively)
Flash: LED Upgraded to built-in Xenon
Bluetooth upgraded to EDR 2.0 with A2DP capabilities
Flight mode - made available on a K-series phone
I wouldn't say that any of these feature upgrades are marginal. It's true, the video quality has not been upgraded, but plenty of other features have been as I have listed.

From both companies websites:
Nokia N93
"Make Movie Magic."
K800i
"Cyber-shot™ digital still camera. And mobile phone."
So until SE announces a "Handycam™ digital video camera. And mobile phone" we can just forget about the lack of HD video in the K800.

I wish everyone would stop going on about how the k800 is a cybershot phone aimed at pictures and not a 'Handycam' phone aimed at videos...
Because, i hate to break it to you, but, the fact of the matter is...'It doesent f***ing matter if its not a handycam phone or not...better video quality should be standard on a phone of this nature...come on guys, its a brand new 2006 phone, aimed to compete with anything nokia and samsung can throw at it...and its gettin walked over by the other companies because it is simply not up to scratch in the video department....
People will continue saying ' It's not a handycam phone' but seriously, that is bull shit, cause if se are realy holding back good video perfomance for a different range of phones, that that is a complete waste of time!!
People buying new phones are looking for the complete package, not just one feature. If what people are going by is true, what are we going to be expecting from the new Handycam phones...hmmm, what about a step back in time, lets put a 1.3mp cam in, but with dvd quality video recording...wooohooo....I SERIOUSLY DOUBT IT!...and its exactly the same situation with the k800, sony aren't going to put shit video recording in a phone simply because its not branded to be good at that...they are just being lazy shit's lol...come on se, give us qvga 320x
