i thought i was getting a good deal considering the price on expansys and others!
oh well!

| I think you have. I didn't check the price for the black version as I wanted white - turns out the white one was £60 more! However, I really did want white! Plus, I think its worth £400 as I believe I've finally found a phone/pda which works - been through P800, Treo, Jam and O2Exec! |

mine is white I'm glad I chose that now but it was my choice anyway as I didn't like the black. I don't understand why it should be more expensive in UK though
@smilerthe cheshirecat, thanks, I hadn't read the media player part in the manual fully but yep, there it is. thanks!

@masseur, not spotted any issues with connections. I use T-mobile I think you use Vodafone from previous posts. But I am not impressed with 3G performance as yet, but will try again when I am in London where the coverage is very good. When the HTC Universal (jasjar) was launched I found I had many connections and disconnections with Vodafone but with my XDA Exec (with a newer firmware) O2 connections seemed more stable. |

yeah, I'm with vodafone but I've not had such issues with the T610, K700, K750 or for that matter, the V800 when I had it.
I've only ever seen this on the P series, till now.
I will also be checking out the 3g performance en-route to work in London on Monday
btw, I do like the M600 but as an avid windows mobile user I'm keep clicking on the screen and holding the stylus expecting a menu to appear (similar to right clicking in windows) but it seems this is still lacking in UIQ 3

| I'm glad that's not just me! I keep clicking on the screen expecting a context menu to appear - but I suppose that's all part of getting used to a new OS (although they should introduce it in 3.1 I think!). |

Someone mentioned earlier about the stylus breaking so I was just looking at mine and find that it unscrews in the middle, much like those used in palm devices.
in fact it looks like the plastic bit that comes out from the metal bit is tapered much like the reset pointer used in palm stylii.
however I don't see any form of reset hole in the M600 so I'm wondering if this stylus is common to some palm device or am I missing something. I've checked the manual and no mentioned there
btw, I did find one context menu. its in the browser and in porttrait mode lets you choose full screen or landscape and in landscape mode it allows you to revert to portrait mode
excuse my idle ramblings but I'm finding stuff as I go along

me again, trying out the connectivity.
I've paired the M600 with my vaio and then run the setup in m-router but its only once in 10 times I can get a stable connection, the rest of the time it just cycles between connected and disconnected. as a side note, I have my k-jam, 8800, k750 etc paired and none have connections issues.
I'm assuming that, like the k-jam, when connected to the PC it automatically uses the PC's internet connection rather than costing on GPRS/3g but I can't find any evidence of this being fact so any pointers there would be appreciated.

The only way I can see you being able to use the dsl at home is using the BT ADHOC function and you pc needs to support that feature or have a router that does.
This might help..

thanks, I'll give that a good look.
seems I was wrong then, you don't even get a pass through internet connection when connected via USB so thats a little dissapointing considering that been available for 5 years or more in activesync
still plenty more stuff to check out yet though

This is how i connected the PDA to the Laptop and surfed the local webserver:
I've installed the bluez-utils and bluez-pin using synaptic.
Following the Howto from http://bluez.sourceforge.net/contrib/HOWTO-PAN I've edited /etc/default/bluez-utils:
----
############ PAND
# set to 1 for enabled, 0 for disabled
PAND_ENABLED=1
# Arguments to pand
PAND_OPTIONS="--listen --role NAP"
----
I left the other lines as they've been.
To have an Ad-Hoc Network, you just need to change the role from NAP to GN.
I've restarted my Laptop some times, but i think a
"sudo /etc/init.d/bluez-utils restart"
may have the same effect.
Within my bluetooth-utilities on the PDA, I can search for services on devices and found my laptop serving a "Network Access Point".
I created a connection and activated it.
Now i've tooked a look to the interfaces using "ifconfig -a" and saw that there was an unconfigured device "bnep0".
I gave that device an IP within the same range as my PDA is configured to.
(In my case : PDA=10.0.0.10, Laptop=10.0.0.1)
Than i started the InternetExplorer (hell, is there a firefox, mozilla or whatever available for PDA? ), entered the IP of my Laptop (that is running apache) and it just works.

These are not my words and I have not tested it out so usual dissclaimers apply...

My GPRS detaches all the time as well. I can't stand switchign to flight mode and back to correct this when I wanna go online.
Also, some people in other forums complained about not being able to one-handed lock (and unlock) the phone. Just hold the 'back' button for a couple seconds.
Has anyone had any luck doing a Bluetooth PAN with a Mac? I'm trying to figure out how to go online via airport. I've tried Share2Blu2th--no luck. I haven't tried the USB cable, but that's not my bag anyway.
I also can't wait for the next iSync update so I can get iCal all sync'd up and ready-to-go.
Can anyone explain why the keypad LEDs on the white model are white, and why on the black one they're blue!? I have a black one, and I really want those white LEDs to make my letters appear white! |

For those that are having GPRS connection problems could you please say which network you use and if your subscription is 3G and if your SIM is 3G or not. I use T-mobile with a 3G SIM card and I have not had any connection issues at all and I have been using my M600 all day yesterday.
