@all: NITEL strike had kept Mtel gprs down thus my abscence (that i'm sure left PNF a little peaceful!!!!)

@Areaf: Thanks o!! Even though I've had the notebook for some time now. Its the connection to the phone's gprs that was killing me. I missed PNF too. Was suffering from PNF withdrawl!!

@Ifed: My brother, i didnt want to bring down the mood at PNF so I didnt menton it before but robbers came to my end easter weekend (on saturday, 2:30am). Luckily, they were only armed with cutlasses (though one had something that made banging noises but i suspect it was just a starter gun) so i was able to fight it out in my living room. came out without a scratch. (thanks to God).

@Ambyz: its still Mtel o!

@Deji: I get topic o! Was reading in the paper that our Minister of Science and tech, saying that he wants to start a space programme in that we'll have a Nigerian Astronaut in the next few years and 1000 by 2030!! Costing N1.87 billion by the way!!! In a nation where we are finding it hard to provide enough electricity and cant even run a railway system, what are we doing with a space programme? why are our leaders dreaming like this? We cant buy a shirt but we are shopping for a bowler hat!!!! PNF, what's your take on it??

@demm: Thanks O!

@coola: still using Mtel. I'll check out th Netmeter. How are the wifi hotspots in Abj? Any free zones there?Just in case i come to town.

@all... If our science and tech minister thinks we don't know what nigerians needs then he is not fit to hold that post. We don't want to go space -we need food, schools, hospitals, good roads. Our refineries should be working at 100% capacity. Someone should please reach this minister immediately

@Abu The #1 wifi Free spot in Abuja is the Millennum park. There is one in FCDA but it is no longer reliable. I think Suburban are the guys really pushing the wifi thing here. There is also wifi at NNPC and ASO Rock... but...

@Areafada Whenever I am online on my pc:
- Esato.com
- Yahoo Messenger
- Yahoo Mail

In the past 2 weeks...
- Yesu247.com (working on new my Christian Discussion Forum)
- Blogger.com (uploading my blog)
- Google.com (researching on SEO- Search Enging Optimisation)

@coola: getting into the Aso rock area isnt that hard. Its getting past the second Security barrier that is hard. Anyhow, if you can get it at Millenium park, all one needs to worry about is your battery longevity. I wonder if the security there has been stepped up f you have lots of yuppies going to "shine" with thier flashy notebooks. No thugs showing up saying "o boy, bring that thing!!". What's ur take on our space programme?

@Areaf: here are my fav sites:

1. PNF / Esato (of course!!!)
2. Yahoo/ Hotmail
3. BBC Have your say (good for complainers like me!!!)
4. NBA.com
5. CNN
6. Thisday
7. ngrguardiannews.com (both papers for awoof news)
8. Awoof.com
9. dogpile.com (for searches)
10. IGN.com (gamers only!!!)

@Mamba I connected with Vmobile for the first time yesterday afternoon. Very slow. And it stopped transmiting data after a few minutes. So, I wonder, are U Guys using another Vmobile?

@All No one responded to Brix's info MTN acquisition. I am yet to see it in the Nigerian Newspapers.

@Abu.... I am yet to visit Millennium Park with my lappy. Maybe on Saturday when there will be lots of ppl. Lucky us, we don't have Agberos/Thugs here... only Assassins and Robbers.

@abu: Sorry to hear about your encounter with the "real owners" Happy to hear you came off unscathed.

There are many reasons why the foray into space can seem a bad idea in any country.

Nasa, like all other space agencies always have problems approving their budgets. It is also true there are many alternative uses the money spent on such "adventures" can be put and yes there will be cases of waste as there always is in an goverment undertaking -this applies everywhere- but as has been shown in the west and now in the east with India and China, Space exploration is a nessesary and inevitable pursuit.

I don't want to fall into the usual Nigerian "its a good idea but I fear for the implementaion" gambit.

It IS a good idea, there are MANY good and useful things the money can otherwise be used for but in the final analysis, it is a judgement call on the part of the government.

They say if you think big and act big, big things will happen.

And we want to venture into space exploration. oh boy i dey vex oh. @ALL: How do you guys find tomorows match. I mean ARSENAL vs BARCELONA

@egunj: thanks o! With regards to the space programme, there are lots to reap from it if we had all our ducks in a row. But we don’t have our ducks in the same region talk less in a row. If our manufacturing industry was where it should be (Steel mills online, producing cars and car parts for west Africa) and our universities were where they should be (providing excellent health care for west Africa and leading Africa in medical research) then we could attempt to take advantage of a space programme that could facilitate our industries and medical research in zero gravity. But gone are the days of the 50's and 60's Cold War space race that was mainly for bragging rights. That’s why I disagree with you it being a toss up for govt to decide. They've already decided sha but we can stillpost our views with hopes one of us at PNF becomes Pres in 2011 and I can be a Special advisor!!!!!!
