Hi all,

This problem is really starting to bug me and I searching the web, I still can't find a solution. Basically it's an age old problem....

When I transfer my contacts from via bluetooth from my PC using Outlook Express 6, the "File As" order on the phone is "Lastname, Firstname". Whilst on the Outlook Express it's displayed as "Firstname, Lastname".

How on earth can you change the default on the X1 Windows Mobile to be "Firstname, Lastname"?

I've seen a solution for "full-blown" outlook (http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/raj/FileAs.html), but not sure if this fix would work on the Outloook Express version.

At the very least, is it possible to highlight all contacts and do a mass change on the "File As" field?

Many thanks in advance, all ideas/solutions welcome.

Chris

Hi all,

Eureka!!! On my above issue.

Just in case anyone else has this synchronisation problem, after trailing the web for a couple hours I found this brilliant little program that installs on your X1 and sorts your contacts address book into your required format (mine being firstname, lastname obviously).

For those that are interested it's free link below:
http://www.shubaroo.com/index.php?module=contact

Obviously backup and install at your own risk.

Good job I'm a glass almost full kind of guy .

Now I can start playing with it properly...

No problem, at all, that's what were all here for . After it bugged me yesterday, I found a bit of free time after work, to find an answer.

There are ways to re-order using "file as" on Outlook, but that doesn't work for beamed contacts.

Now I get on with reviewing it, though I must say I don't think it's going back .

I know that this is not a P series thread but since my P990i debacle I have been waiting for another sensible one from . Is there any news about the release of the P Next? Or did I miss the thread about it?

This Xperia is for business persons and not for P series fans like me who would rather the old styling of large screen, great camera, qwerty keyboard and UIQ.

Thanks but qwerty and quad band are important to me as well. That slider deal with Experia just isn't cutting it. I could never understand why would make a high end phone and not put quad band on it. It is just basic.

I am thinking of jumping to Nokia but as a long standing fan I will wait.

Anyone know if there is a Sky by Mobile app for Win Mo,or has anyone tried to use remote recors from the Sky website?
I use Sky by Mobile a lot on my P990 and was wondering if there was an equivalent for the X1?
Thanks

Another important thing I want to know, this time from all you insiders: Will SE really provide firmware updates for the X1 that make a difference? Will they provide any at all? Or will it just end up like the P1

Hi,

I'm sorry if this has already been asked....

My Xperia is nearly up and running, but there is one thing I absolutely HATE, and I'm really hoping someone can help. The message threading, where it links all the SMS and MMS together in a conversation like manner.

I've looked online, and it says to use a registry editor. I've located the value I need to edit, but it comes up with Access Denied. Is there anyway to disable this in the phone, or anyone else been able to edit it OK?

@dogmann, that's a shame about the text issue. Like masseur, I don't have an issue with the text size. I'm surprised that a person with 20/20 has such an issue but if that's what you prefer then I accept it's a legitimate complaint.

I have my i780 running in REALVGA mode with similiarly sized text and don't have any problems. Infact I've always considered on a small device like a phone that the smaller the text the better, as it effectively gives more room on the screen. For example websites with small text show more of the page (so less scrolling in full page view), pages of text don't have to be scrolled as often etc.

Good luck with your next phone! Are you going back to the Bold?

Well, waited for the X1 for a while now, thought it would be my natural upgrade from a P990 but then I've always felt there was something missing in the X1 eventhough the specs seems like the best SE has to offer. It's due to the fact that other than the branding, I can't feel it's difference from the other devices of its class out there. Therefore I'm probably going back to a feature phone, particularly W902 which is a departure from the usual SE stereotype. I've never had a Walkman phone anyways so... I guess I'll still be waiting in the SE smartphone department.

I'm looking for something similar to the iPhone/AT&T Visual Voicemail feature. This probably isn't possible on any WinMo devices yet, is it?

So how did you sort it? I'd also like to know.

Cheers
