Nobody is sending me such large files , but I agree i would be great to be able to choose where to save my received BT files.

Anyone have any sort of idea as to when the new firmwares gonna become available?

I currently have my p990 for sale...but dont know whether to hold out for the latest firmware.

I dont really have any real problms with the handset but would like it to be a little bit quicker.

right doublecheese, thought i could live with it too cos I just love the 990i, large fonts (old man cant read tiny sms fonts), big screen, wifi etc etc. But imagine anything that transmits to your 990i bluetooth or wifi, be it music files, pictures, excel spreadsheets, pdf files, and esp videos, will Jam your inbox. Furthermore, mms sending just too much of a hassle as compared to "dumb" phones, like K750, W800 and my new W810i. Guess I gave up on this P-series. I wont even call it a smartphone not to mention business phone as its memory management shucks big time. Meanwhile I hope you enjoy your 990i. cheers

Well you've stuck it so far and dont seem to have problems so give it another week or so by which time (fingers crossed) the firmware should be available. From the postings on this forum the recent update on the m600 has improved it's performance quite a bit, hopefully the update on the P990 will sort out it's issues as well.

2xcheese; accepted the mms sending is better when you compare to 910i but not the "dumb" phones like W810 or W800i. With W800 or W810i, step 1, click pic, step 2 press send, step 3 choose receiver and step 4 press send. I guess its more or less same with 990 but more often than desired, it gets stuck in the outbox without you realising it and that also takes up internal memory, which is a real premium for 990i.
Like you wish for, hopes the next firmware (heard its R9) will improve its memory mgt. The 990i comes with 60mb internal memory but once switched on, its only 12-13 mb left for user, imagine 48mb taken up by system resources. I have no qualms with SE 990i but around this time last year everyone including myself were so excited with the launching of P990i and since then I for one been checking the net and tis forum DAILY for upcoming news. And after using it for 2 weeks it Shucks!!. Whats the point of all the functions and features when you cant fully use them as it auto-crashes on you. I installed Jabplite for my banking accounts but recalled i had to restart my input at least 5 times when memory runs out and it auto restart. Mind you I have no other application running at that time. The last straw was last saturday when I had so many issues to send one simple mms out and to top it of, the messaging crashed on me cos it was overloaded and even using the storage manager to clear the memory do not help at all. I had to re-install firmware.

You do know that the p900 did the same thing it too saved bluetooth beams in your inbox and saved mms messages in your sent items all taking up valuable internal memory ! [addsig]

That's why they released a swiss manager to make the p990i a stable phone. If you have a p990i try downloading it and install it on the p990i see the difference on using it.

I get your point

I think the only thing we should do now is to be patient and wait for the new FW , Patience is the greatest virtue on earth

Apart from some crashes and some kernel errors , my phone is running quite well these days. But I don't have too much applications installed like you guys.

One idea : Is it possible that your 3rd party applications make your phones freeze or crash ?

On my P990 I have about 45MB of memory for apps and user data - not sure why you think memory is a problem on the P990
