I did see that voda fone brand the w phones overseas. Which was why i was worried. I don't like the vodafone software at all. And i'll void my warranty if i decide to change it back to the original software. I did see that the w810 is vodafone live enabled but is not on the vodafone live website, which either means you are right or they haven't added it yet. But i'd rather you were right. |

@786KBR: Where did that "nokia sucks" comment come from?
Last time I checked they didn't brand Walkman phones as heavily as the other phones that's why I say it most probably will be the links directing you to their mobile portal.

Just to break the whole S60 discussion...
The Voda W810 is definately branded!
Im not sure if Siosal is worried bout the "heaviness" of the branding or just if it is branded or not... |

Just read this. Thats pretty bad 786. the k750 is using the vodafone software which is resoundingly bad. Not only are certain functions blocked but there are game demos which cannot be deleted (even if you bought the full game!)
Added to that I have read that the overseas voda branded w810 contains up to 8 game demos! and I'm an unhappy camper.
I am upgrading over a few months and am looking at the w810. There just isn't another phone that grabs me. And I'm not to sure about voiding my warranty to put back the original software.
What to do.... what to do....

Lets go with the heaviness and work form there. ok, it's branded... but how badly?

If its like the K750, its not bad i promise, yeah you cant delete the preinstalled games but you can load 100 others
As for the ringtone thing, I dont have problems all my music works just fine, all my applications work as well...
Theres no restrictions at all..
But the only downside is the cheap ugly motorola looking icons thats a bit upsetting, but its not bad to be honest... |

Those Icons are pretty rubbish.
Well i won't let it put me off. I'll just live through it. But damn.... I love my SE software.
Oh, btw... on standard SE phones (eg:w550) you can upgrade the firmware OTA. Is it still possible with vodafone branding?
Thanks again. |

I have been using vodafone live software on my phones for almost a year now, (since i got the v800 last july) and still have no probs withi it other than not being able to erase some of the images and tones from the phones.
I really (no offence) do not see the problem with the branded software, as i use the phone as a modem and wap and thats basically it. The looks of icons etc is of no concern to me

@Rhino8: Welcome back mate...stop working on the codes and come hang with us, we run with supermodels
Getting the N70 on Voda took a lot of consideration, as most you know I hate network branded phones but then someone told me( I think it's one of you guys) that I could change the look of the phone by simply reverting it to the default Nokia theme...ok, that was cool. The N70 suits me well has it only has two Vodafone logos, I don't mind Vodafone Live as the only thing that interests me is Mobile TV- when there's no network congestion.

Fair enough. But ...
A: How many game demos are stuck on the phone taking up space (I'm more of an app guy).
B: The W series has some really nice themes that change icon placement etc... does the branded software prevent this?
C: It seems to me that the icons make the screen look more cluttered on the branded software.
I just want to know exactly what kind of restrictions it has and how much memory is being taken up by things you don't want or can't remove (ie: pictures, vidoes and games) |

You can use whatever W810 themes you want!!
You get used to the icons its not a trainsmash
Theres maybe 1 video, couple pics maybe around 5MB of stuff that cant be erased, but no restrictions at all!!
Im also just giving out what I know about the K750...
Its a beautiful phone, go get it! |

@Brixxx
I cant leave the code, i have recently started a project of creating a point of sales program, i dont think i will go public with it .. ever.. but, it is a step in the rigth direction.
I never use the mobile tv, as i think they are ridicilously expensive.
UNLESS some of you guys know where i can get tv other than vlive site

@Siosal: Just checked Vodafone's UK site and the W810i's menus are definitely branded with those UGLY icons... They don't(won't) say whether there are any restrictions on what you can download.
Talk of restrictions, whatever happened to DRM or Digital Rights Management?
@Rhino: I promise, once you see the girls I run with you'll leave that gf of yours in Bloem...just yesterday I was chilling with the most beautiful Dutch girls watching Holland scrape through against the Serbs.
