I have enjoyed reading all posts in here. Finally I got my P990i last evening. Imeediately out of box I updated to new firmware without any hitch or flaw. No hangs etc.
Then I tuned up my handset for Wifi use with my mac airport extreme. No flaws and pretty fast connectivity.
I downloaded new themes, ringtones as my add ons.
I used bluetooth to transfer my contacts, pictures, videos from my K750 to my new gleaming P990i, again no hangs and fast transfer.
Finally I downloaded the tool swiss manager to have my handset tweaked all the time. All sailing smooth as whistle.
I think I am most contented with P990i and so far have not faced any glitches.
My only request to all reading my post to help me get a good Mac theme with mac icons.I am desperately and dont know where to look. I did manage to get my hands on mobile09 site and came across theme "Brushed" however, without mac icons.
Please Please help me get me some mac themes.
Tks and I love this place:) |

No it does not, nor does it stop the endless kern errors messages or the constant crashes when you are trying to edit a contact in flip open mode! Neither does it speed up the overly slow general performance of the device apart from that it's just great!

Mate, you might well be happy to accept poor products but I certainly am not and will tell it how it is! but perhaps you do not understand Irony? However If you do, then leave the personal jibes out I am not impressed with childish name calling OK.
I am glad you are clearly not experiencing any of the above problems, but I am and so I am not at all happy with the so called "flagship" of the family.
I am however, pleased that I did not have to pay a penny for this pile of junk, even attempting a simple task like "trying" viewing of the calendar from the "Activity Menu" brings this "toy" to its knees requiring a reeboot to gain control of it!
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

I am really pleased to hear your experience with this device has been good.
Do you have many contacts on your phone?
Do you have a lot of calendar data on the phone?
I am begining to think P990i my problems are being caused by an inability of the device to manage applications and memory if you have a lot of data loaded if that is so, then they better find a fix quick or I will need to look elesewhere for a device that can handle everything as well as my old P910i did!
MY figures are not that high for a business phone:
Contacts about 650 = 456k Data
Calendar Entries about three a day (but due to it phone crashing so often I have had to cut back to synching only 20 days behind qand a max of 60 days in advance = 111K Data
Tasks = 111k
Notes = 19k
Bearing in mind my P910i handled all this data, but with a calendar synched to 90 days behind and 365 days in advance! plus loads of third party apps etc etc without a second glance!! So you can see that from a business perspective the P990i is not a step forward in any way, on the contrary it is a very very time consuming step backwards!

@thebamboozle
Get swiss manager , then from settings, tick show hidden files.
Try getting into Z drive, keep looking there until you find the tone you looking for, I think this may really work for you.

@Nitro Fan
I have about 1.2mb of contacts and about 250kb of calendar entries .
By the way I never synch with my PC.
I can clearly say that my P990i is handling these data much slower than my P910i, but I'm not having any crashes etc when working with contacts and calender entries. But I think we should give SE guys some time to fix these problems, I think everything will be good soon

Sorry...people with latest firmware just donīt get all those problems...if you canīt update to the latest, maybe because you have vodafone handset, well thatīs the price to pay for buying branded handsets, you have to wait much longer for updates
You clearly said to a guy that asked if the latest firmware update improves P990 stability that "it crashes all the time" and has kernel errors all the time, well, that is a BIG LIE, so what do you expect people should write about your post???? Please enlighten me WHO is being childish???

Maybe the wrong thread to post this news, but just been told by a mate who works for that the successor of the P990i has been mentioned already
Yes, this is true.... was told that they had a meeting and could not disclose any more information but i tried for you P - series fanatics
He said that a successor for the M600i and P990i are in line and the only other info i was given is that the flip in the P series will be gone for good! No more info was given as its confidential but its a start

It's ok for SE to start planning the successor to the P990i but if you're saying they already have it ready for production, then that's a different story. It would also mean that SE has decided that fixing the P990i is like flogging a dead horse and it's best to cut their losses and move on.
Hopefully, it's the former.

I found that even though you don't get the Delete menu item, you can still mark all the items and then hit the DEL key to delete all marked messages. It's a workaround until they fix the firmware.

i am using the latest firm ware and still its giving problems like this....
SE common you should be faster with more firmware updates and solve all these
i am so confused as to what all features i am missing now because of this yet unfinished firmware
Please guys if you know things like this post it here so that newbies like me can make use of this |
