The Sony Ericsson X2 will be announced in the beginning of next week.

An SE linux platform? Wouldn't that technically mean though more or less its netbook time?
No, something like Nokia with Maemo in their N900 (something Samsung will do, too, btw, according to Eldar). But it's just a pure guess.
@Stef
Thanx for confirming (though I did know it from another reliable source already) |

Err X2??
Except the internal memory it is expected to trump the N900 at everything. Also has a 8 mp cam. Btw, it has 256 mb ram. Dont know where you came up with that 1 gb figure from. |

SE should have gone with Android faster, even on the Satio. Even Nokia knows s60 v5 is crap now.

I've been cursing SE since they killed off the best Os IMO and have been saying this 'new' Symbian Os is in trouble and now we know it is.
Great job SE!
But then, SE screwed Motorola over by enticing them to join UIQ only to ditch it and now Nokia played the same game on them. What a joke and it's on SE!

Its not just Nokia that works with it. Samsung and I think LG do as well. |

Virtual memory is hardly a bragging right.
Hardwarewise, everything else in that has been trumped elsewhere and Maemo 5 is yet to exhibit an app/developer base comparable to Symbian/WinMo/iPhone and hell, Android.
That said, porting apps from Debian to Maemo is supposedly pretty straightforward, so this may change VERY soon.

@se_love
Those two never heard any smarphone OS but SE on the other hand HAD a super OS so to me the other two were just followers wheras SE was standing on its own without having to lick Nokia's...
Nokia buys all of symbian's shares, turns it into an open source and then dumps it.
Samsung is following Nokia (according to Eldar) and if that is true we have only SE as the main player in high end symbian competing with Maemo and Samsung's mix of Maemo and their own 'os'.
Great move by Motorola to jump ship and concentrate on Android. I guess it's a case of 'we've been here before with UIQ and got badly burnt, not again' from Moto.
Now LG knows little about smartphone Os so I don't even see how they figure in this picture. I bet now they are in the middle of nowhere, confused and rattled.
What does SE have now? WM, Android and Symbian. Hmmm... only Android offers a chance at making it while Symbian is (fill the words/phrase). WM on the other hand is on a slow painful death. In a few years' time it will be there and insignificant. Even HTC are concentrating more on Android. Just look at where WM is compared to where it was and you realise that it really is a serious struggle. Some say that Window 7 will ultimately help the beleaguered WM but if you look at what it is up against you realise that that assumption is way off.
I see Apple, Google, Blackberry and now Nokia all slugging it out and Microsoft falling by the wayside. I have a feeling someone over at SE will finally realize that Symbian is a dead end and dump it like UIQ.
