Ive got the R2AN001 firmware on my O2 branded phone. O2 icons are still there, however there are no delays in receiving SMS messages.

Sometimes, when receiving messages with over 180 characters takes a few mins, you'll receive the first half of a message and then the rest a few mins later... that cud be your problem (as this happens to any phone).

Faster than R2AE? My K700i originally came with R2AC (later than R2AA) and it was slowww! [addsig]

Hi all, just asking, does anyone of you here using Sony Ericsson phones have accidentally or unintentionally made any scratches or marks on your phone? I've accidentally made 3 marks, though small, on the side of my K500i when I opened my front cover and I'm feeling troubled and sad over it. Anyone has any advice for me?

I've found that however hard I try, it's impossible not to scratch a phone. Don't worry about it. [addsig]

Anyone know when R2AL029 is likely to be out on SEUS?

I wonder if it's out on the SEUS already. I unbranded my friends K700i with R2AE033 and changed the CDA to 102298/83 (UK generic trade). I went to just check that it worked on the SEUS, and it said it was ready to download an update. Now if the firmware was up-to-date, it would say it's up-to-date. However, I didn't go any further with the update in case I messed his phone up so I can't say for sure. Unfortunately, I can't try the SEUS with my phone at the moment (which is the same as his). Don't ask why, it's a long story! [addsig]

I will try mine again at the weekend although I tried it on Sunday and it came up with the You are running the up to date software and my phone has R2E033. I suppose they could have released it yesterday?

Is your phone network-branded? What is your CDA? [addsig]

Ah, yes, you're using the EU2 specific CDA. Change it to CDA102298/83 which is the UK generic trade default. When I tried the SEUS with my friend's phone that was running R2AE with this CDA number, it said there was an update, but I didn't go ahead with it. When I tried another friend's with EU1 and the EU1 specific CDA (like yours, just 1 number less), it said it was up-to-date. So I'd say change it.

Take a look here. Post #1 gives the language pack specific CDAs. Post #10 gives the country defaults, which are better I believe. [addsig]

Reflashing my phone to a UK specific CDA102298/83 R2A - K700i - Generic Trade United Kingdom would be a right pain as I don't have the cable, have not used SE Tool before (so no credits) and would have to go through the hassle of loading all my settings back in again.

Is there any other advantage of having this version software other than possibly being able to get my hands on R2AL029 now (using SEUS) rather than waiting for Sony to release this firmware to the rest of us.

If there are not functional differences then I will probably wait and just update my phone using SEUS as I have before.

Thanks for the info non the less as it has been well handy.

First of all, there'd be no need to completely reflash your phone, nor would you have to use SE Tool. DaVinci can do this, using a DSS-25 (if you have one) and can simply change the CDA. There is no reflashing involved.

I cannot be 100% certain that R2AL is even on the SEUS, but what I do know is there was a newer version than R2AE when using this CDA.

Apart from the possibility of being more able to update using the SEUS, there are absolutely no advantages to having this CDA whatsoever. It does not change functionality in any way. So, unless you're really bothered about future updates using the SEUS, don't worry too much about it. [addsig]

Does anyone know what chages are in R2AN001 - I just gotthis as a repacement phone today. Does this have My Friends? erm... What is My Friends?

I'm kinda new to all this phone stuff. Is there a tutorial around that tells me what is the latest K700i firmware and a step by step on how to flash it (without a docking station - I have cable and bluetooth attachments for PC)
