Anyone on the birthday people not syncing?
iMac G4 10.4.2
iSync 2.1
Really annoying because all the most important people in my contacts have their birthday in my addressbook... |

Hi all, I'm new here and was hoping for some help please
have been browsing to find a solution to the k750i / Mac / USB / ._annoyingfiles that appear after loading some mp3's onto my phone
i've downloaded FinderCleaner, as mentioned a page or so ago
...but it doesn't seem to work! not sure what's wrong, but if i open up findercleaner and select the removable disk 'no name' ...as my phone appears on my desktop, nothing much happens
I'd assumed its supposed to whiz through, tell you how many files have been deleted, then 'eject' the phone from the desktop?
am i doing something wrong?
any help would be great, thanks |

I recommended FinderCleaner and it works exactly the way it should.
Here is what I do:
1. Start FC
2. Select the root of the directory. I chose from the left hand side of Finder that lists the phone drive.
3. Select this entire director which will also select the subdirectories as well.
4. Tell FC to start. When done, press eject and it will give you are report and eject your phone.
I can maybe try and post some screen shots if you need some. Let me know.
Cheers

You're welcome by the way!!!!!!!!
Take, take, take and very little thanks. Good thing you have Jools. I will not be posting anymore tips and hints. Being courteous should not be a chore.

Thanks for your help sapporobaby
...think there must be something wrong with me though - i can't get it to work!
When i open FinderCleaner, it brings up a finder window which asks me to choose a volume or folder to clean. i choose the phone's folder in the left hand bit of the window, as you say, then the window dissappears, and that's it - nothing else happens. How do i 'eject' the phone?
sorry for sounding like an idiot!
your help is appreciated
thanks

If you have a chat client, you can PM me your username and we can go through it step by step. It will work for sure.

No worries.
I will provide step by step instructions:
1. While your phone is connected to your Mac start FinderCleaner 1.4
2. It will open up a "Choose a Folder" dialog box where you can choose a folder to clean.
3. Select "Untitled" (mine says Untitled. yours might be something different)
4. When you select Untitled, select the entire directory and none of the sub-diretories on the right.
5. Click "Choose".
6. It will take about 5 seconds and then you will have the option to either Quit or Eject.
To disconnect and eject the drive, naturally select Eject. However, if you choose Quit, and leave the phone connected, it will still put the ._file back on your phone if you access finder.
Hope this helps but FinderCleaner works great.
