@Vlamm
I just downloaded Se's Theme Creator 1.5 & I'm playing around with it.
What is the trick to get the SoftKeys' background transparent so the image fits the whole screen ? |

the trick is that you don't
instead you start off by making a full screen image (for S700 that's 240 pixels by 320 pixels) and create the iamge you want.
Once it's perfect, you 'slice' it into the distinctive bits (statusbar, wallpaper and softkeys)
Good luck!

Hey People,
Here's my first theme based on Battle of The Planets.
How's it? |

It's good!
A few things you could try on your next theme is transparent (or partial transparent) highlights (.png files)
Also one thing that is important to remember is that on the popup, certain things like the symbols in the 'add symbol' menu when typing, are always black. That means they will not be visible if the popup itself has a black or very dark colour.
Good job though! Keep it up

Thanks for your feedback Vlamm.
It took me at least 2 hours for this theme.
So, how do I get those transparent highlights again (.png files).
Thanks for the tip on the add button.
Will try to make another today. (with a little bit of transparency, if i know how to do it)... |

do you work with photoshop? If so, you just create your image (highlight for example) and reduce the opacity (in the layer palette)
When you see the 'squares' shine through that means is transparent. Save as .png
[edit] something else: i cannot see on your preview what you did to show the 'selected tab' gotta make sure it stands out a bit so ppl can actually see it jump about when they move their joystick/navigation button

Thanks for the quick answer Vlamm.
How long does it take you to make a decent theme? |

it's very very different per theme actually.
Some take 3 hours, some take days.... it all depends on how much details I add into it and how much I change after my first draft

How do you make sure the select tab stands out, Vlamm?

I use different colours, or sometimes a shape.
Most of the time I also leave the 'unselected tab' blank. so whatever item I use for selected is gonna stand out.
Like this theme:
A blank 'unselected tab' and the red thingy is the 'selected tab', so if the user scrolls the red thing will jump from icon to icon (tab to tab)
Hope that makes sense.
Look back to the Ajax theme about 2 or 3 opages back..... there I used 2 colours, one for unselected tab and and another for selected, so as the suer scrolls, the coloured background will jump from icon to icon, reflecting which one is selected
