I've just recieved and updated an unbranded C510 to the latest firmware and seem to be having some signal issues - frequent 'no access to network' messages, and problems with data (settings are correct) using my O2 contract sim and Mobileweb settings. Can't seem to get it to log on to the HSDPA network too, stuck on 2G/EDGE (I've checked in net settings that 3G is activated - it is).
Is this a known issue/bug with the firmware? There were no problems at al using the previous firmware version (Can't remember it's version but from Apr 09 I think).

When i had my c510 the last firmware was ended 034 think the new one is 35 though not sure. It might not be UK. Anyway when i had signal issues it was not losing 3G(i was on Orange)but i was in a high signal area better than anyone could wish for. But the c510 was awful at keeping the signal steady even whilst dead still on a desk. It would constantly fluctuate up and down and was really poor in good areas. Also the fact that the internal antenna is again in the bottom of the phone makes things worse. When you hold the phone it blocks vital signals with your hand over it. Not sure about anything with new firmware. I know its a problem with this phone because no other phone i have does this. |

I've just reflashed the phone with the 035 firmware again using SEUS and all seems OK now, though as stated signal does seem to fluctuate wildly! Will take it to work with me and see how it fares there, the building seems to block mobile signals though my Google G1 can just about get a weak signal. Will be interesting to see if the C510 does at all!

Well as i said i live in a strong coverage area on all networks except 3UK. Orange is the strongest which i am on. Every phone i have had picks up solid signal except the c510. But sometimes it can be a network issue. I remember when i had my k800i on O2 and that phone was probably the best ever phone for getting a good signal it was flawless. Anyway sometimes whilst on 3G a phone symbol with a line through it would appear at the top of the screen. It would skip between 3G and GSM alot even though 3G on O2 where i live is better than GSM. I think this happened alot when the network was busy and congested which meant i would lose the 3G signal when my phone was in standby. So whilst sometimes it can be network related i dont think it is with the c510. I think this phone has a poor antenna or a poorly placed one. My Nokia 6303 is superb at getting my Orange signal everywhere it sticks to the network like a limpet. How is the call quality now is that improved? I found it hard to hear people very muffled.

The C510 didn't do too badly at work, managed to get a weak signal in quite a few places, not as good as the G1 but still a pretty good showing.
Not made a call on the phone yet so can't comment on the call quality yet, will post here when I do

Do you work in a city or town centre? I find working in the city centre i get a great signal at work because there are more masts around. Though go into a building or shopping centre its dropped. Its a shame cos its such a nice phone. I think regarding the muffled call quality it might be you have to change the acoustics its hardware not software related not sure. |

Edge of a city, think the building must be made of something that blocks signals as most staff have problems getting a signal, regardless of phone or network! 
So far fairly pleased with signal, will see how it goes tomorrow!

Yeah good luck. I work in a big hotel and the building is an old listed building with thick walls and no matter what network your on getting a signal is hard work. Funny thing is i remember when the K750i first came out it had poor signal. With firmware update it was better. But never noticed this improvement with c510. Oh well. |

First time poster here. Great site.
Ive recently bought a c510 and think its a great, tidy wee phone. I find the cameras not as good as I expected for a cybershot though.
Does anyone find that using the centre menu button to take a picture works a bit better than the camera button? |

Welcome to Esato mate  Well yes i think the camera key on the side is a little bit flush with the frame a bit flat so using the D pad can be easier. Only thing with using the D pad is once pressed you cant stop picture being taken. Whereas with the dedicated camera key you can hold it whilst it focuses. |

my dear k750i was snatched a few days ago and I'm planning to replace it with c510. I remember having read that flashlight can be used during video shooting mode. Is that correct? I wanted the flashlight feature from the k750i.
[edit: backread and have the answer to this already.]
And am wondering if we can browse through text messages by pressing left or right button or somethin without going back to the inbox?

Yes you can turn on led flash whilst in video mode. As far as texting and scrolling side ways i have no idea though i dont think so.
