I have read in W950 forum that P990 has 19,8mb free ram after boot. Is that confirmed? I am not impressed with that |

you should be kidding...what we got normally is around 15...if we got that, and memory does not leak like before, multitasking will improve...ALOT

ares i agree about leaking part.. but free ram at boot is very relative. It differes from user to user. My way at the very bottom. I am having around 13.8 while some of you have 15.8.. Where is the catch?
If we will get almost 20mb now.. I guess that is ok witout memory leaking.. |

yeah this is no kidding. after 37 days of fw upgrading now my beloved p990 begin to show its chronic disease(restarting) and operamini is freezing after +/- 30min of usage, oh yeah video player also teend to get kernel error when doing 5-8 times consecutive skipping. SO when is SE releasing "stable" firmware?

R4B03 is stable, at least for me
But guys, besides more RAM at start, Olbo from my-symbian just confirmed we will be finnaly be able to switch of transitions effects in the control panel, just like in w950. Remember he has final public firmware, not just a beta version like ajack, so this time is for real
I hope to know more news about it soon

I agree with ares, I think memory leak is the really important issue. Personally I'm not too concerned about too much RAM at boot and I don't expect drastic improvement. Multitasking is more related to efficient memory management.
However, even more important, I expect some major issues to be solved with this fw, mainly camera focus etc. I will not list them again,I guess everyone knows them by now
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

At least, providing option to turn off transitions shows all our bitching is getting results, so lets keep bitching about all the other subjects untill they give us
edit:
something to open the appetite

you can read all about it in the documentation..........................................................
But here ya go (copy and paste from http://www.sonyericsson.com/webguide/p990i/pc/ae/ sections Contacts.........................................................)
Copying contacts to and from a SIM card
You can copy contacts from your SIM card to Contacts, and vice versa. With the flip open, do as follows:
To copy entries from Contacts to the SIM card
1. Mark the entries in Contacts.
2.Select Contacts menu > Add to > SIM.
To copy entries from the SIM card to Contacts
1.Select Contacts folder menu > SIM, to open the SIM card.
2.Mark the entries.
3.Select SIM menu > Copy to Contacts.
With the flip closed, use the More menu instead, and follow the same procedure. To open the SIM card, select More menu > View folder > SIM.
Note: Only 3G SIM card entries can contain multiple phone numbers.

Thanks but I thought you could save the contacts on the memory card not the SIM. I don't think my SIM will take so many contacts it only has 250 positions. |
