It did come with a 1gb card, the 16mb is the onboard memory that everyone say it rubbish. I have everything stored on the card and it works just fine. Still got 750mb left to fill.

Ok does anyone know how to get the album art on without using itunes. I've tried using disc2phone and also trued drag n drop but neither work. I do have pics of the album covers in media browser now tho.
Also if I debrand my Orange w850i what will I gain/lose???

I found that just by making sure the mp3 is formated correctly the album art just appears. I have a few tracks i burned using Windows Media Player that show the art when they are on the phone. I wonder if somehow the information that windows gets from the internet is attached to each track? No clue.
If you debrand an orange phone you will lose everything orange, shortcuts settings(need to be downloaded again from SE), icons, menus, start up/shutdown screens. You gain flash themes, the ability to use some media codecs that Orange seem to block, and you can get faster firmware updates instead of waiting for Orange to update their version.

OK cheers, I'll try using WMP to add tracks to my phone and see if that works.
Once debranded can I use SE update or am I forever confined to use 3rd pary updates.
I think Orange has a couple of flash themes as 2 or 3 of them scroll and change the track info on the main screen when listening to music.
And for settings is there any I need to be especailly aware of, SMS and MMS will be fine, but will the orange world button no longer work? what will it be replaced with? and the e-mail settings etc.
Sorry to be a pain just want make sure I know what is involved before flashing and then missing something I need or use.

Anyone figured out how to send an "sms" with those little animations ?? On my old w800i and my partners w810i you could create an SMS and goto to insert object where it used to let you add sounds and animations to the sms and as the "objects" were on both phones, it would send as an sms and basically convert the characters into the objects at the other end.
Now on the w850 when I try and insert the same style animations, up pops a message saying it's creating an MMS and it adds the animation as a large image.

I can only go on my own personal experience. I debranded from O2 and had to go to the sony ericsson support site where you can download the wap,mms, etc settings for the operator and phone that you have. When you debrand you will no longer have an orange world button. You will get a Play now button and a globe for your wap. Sony Ericsson sends these settings to you for free.
If you debrand correctly you will be able to use SEUS to update your phone from then on. You need to make sure you choose the right CDA for your region or else you will either not be able to update or the update will give you a language that you don't want. Also choose a generic CDA. If you go to http://www.wotanserver.com and go to the support pages and forum you can find out more about the process. It took me about 7 minutes to debrand my phone. As far as I know wotan is the only place that has the firmware for the w850.
Most of all if your not sure about it, don't do it. There is a chance you can turn your nice new phone into a brick.

Yeah I'm at work too, think I'll give it a go when I get home. Will I then be able to get rid of the preinstalled pics that are protected and what let me delete now or will the still be locked.
What is play now?
And where abouts in the menu stting is the thing for identifying tracks by sound and does the service cost anything?

I'm using tag editor software like MP3Tag or Tag & Rename to put the album art...
Btw only the mp3 files support the album art. i've tried with aac,wma & m4a but the album art did not display when played on w850.... when i tried on n91, it works! too bad huh?

I didn't go through and delete any of them, but the option is there and selectable on them where if you couldn't it would be shaded out.
Play now if I'm right will take you to download music online. It looks like an SE version of Itunes over wap. Nothing special, but it beats O2's own logo, lol. |

aac file type is not supported yet.but m4a with aac encoding is supported.i've tried with 48kbps,sounds bad.SE recommends mp3 with 192kbps.Disc2phone did not comes with an encoding feature for e-aac |

From what I heard all i-mode compatible handsets will come with information on how to access it. My handset didn't some with anything about it. Also according to the stores all i-mode handsets have a button changed on the keypads for the shortcut which have the word i-mode painted on it. |

If you debrand from Orange the Orange World shortcut button still takes you to Orange World. In the menu the icon changes to just a globe and goes to Google search. Track ID works again once debranded, as well as the flash themes. |
