Have had virtually no time to 'esato' this w/end due to moving into our very 1st property,The Wanqlands Estate.
After all these years renting,it's taking a while to 'sink in' that this house is indeed in our name & that we're on the UK Land Registry.

One of the local novelty shops were selling lilos,of all things, which are sold during the UK Summer as many Poms travel and do the whole beach thing.Well the better half knows my penchant for cellphones,so she bought me this massive lilo in the shape & style of a cellphone!
Anywayz,it's another very late night due to all the unpacking & home-personalising,so I'm gonna hit the sack now...I'm absolutely knackered.Peace out.

@786KBR: You're being quite cheeky there putting a wallpaper on a 8800 which IMO is a phone that deserves the upmost respect from all even, fanboys.

I doubt youll like it Mr Brix, the features are pathetic, but I guess thats not the selling point of this phone, it the build quality right???

Close this baby on your ear lobe and youll be playing shot put on your bedroom walls!!!!

Sorry for the change of subject - Is anyone else here using MTN EDGE? I don't know if is just me or what, but over the past weekend they must have done something to the network (at least in Jeffrey's Bay) because my N70 modem manages regularly around 25-26 Kilobytes a sec. download ! (Top of asyncron mode 236/64 - nothing special)And when I upload it still goes at 14 or so Kbyte ! Now for the ones which know a bit about EDGE, this is the synchronous mode 128/128 kbit up/down but how come it changes automatically to the asyncron 64/236 up/down for downloads ? ? ? As far as I know, it was always stuck in asyncron mode. Thanks MTN (I don't bother to call the help desk - for obvious reasons)

@ da brixsta,
LOL, the MTV Cribs 'tour' of The Wanqlands Estate would be somewhat shorter than the likes of Missy Elliot, Simon Cowell or Xzibit's houses...
That's the price I pay for deciding to live in a very good area just outside London and not having access to millions that stardom brings .We'll see how much we can get for this place just before the London 2012 Olympics... and then maybe (hopefully) get a more MTV Crib-style place by the sea...

@da wanqsta: FYI a crib in Llandudno recently went for R40m, if I'm not mistaken one the priciest cribs in SA.

I can't wait to get my new phone but Vodashop says they'll only get new stock of the N70 in the second week of June

Congrats on the move, Wanqsta Moving can be hectic, so i bet you and Mrs.A are glad it's over.

Mario, EDGE has been weird, to say the least... For the past week or so it's been zipping along one moment, sluggish as can be the next. How's 3G reception your way? Over here i pick it up in one half of the house, the instant i move toward the back it's gone

Brix, apart from the obvious like the view, any ideas on what made the house worth R40mill?

I'm no property expert by a longshot but I'd guess anything between the Bantry Bay and Llandudno should cost anything between R20-40 million.
Spoke to a friend who works at an MTN service provider and they also seem to have a shortage of stock of the N70.

@ da brixsta,
R40 million?! And I thought the R20 mil asking price for a house in Constantia, which I saw in the 'overseas' section on the www.rightmove.co.uk site was surreal...
Wonder what commision the estate agent got outta that Llandudno sale...

@ Kryptik,
Thanks swaer, the moving was very hectic.Did the gas & electricity readings & the rest of the time has been virtually continuous unpacking.Tomorrow Sky Digital are coming to set up everything,as well as BT(British Telecommunications) to install the new landline.(The previous owner had NTL installed (formerly Cable & Wireless),which as the former name gives away, is a 'cable' company.)

Competition for overseas calls is becoming so fierce that BT now only charge an extra £1.50 on top of the £11.00 line rental to receive a flat rate of 3p a minute anytime to any overseas destination!Handy for contacting friends and family in SA who aren't using Skype yet.

' Hmm... It's frightening to think that before my P900 all my "workhorse" (i.e. everyday) phones were Blokias!!! My only excuse is that before the move I was still outside of the converged-device arena and my primary device was a thoroughbred palmtop - so I wasn't too worried about anything other than reception, voice quality, and irda/modem functionality at the time...
' Since the move over to the P900 (and subsequent test etc. with other devices) I can't ever even imagine going back to Nokia!!! All my experiences with Nokia since then - especially in contrast with experiences with other devices and the P-Series in particular - has made me wanna barf!!!

' I remember one specific handset I played with (and that my dad eventually got on his work contract) - a spanking new one introduced only about a year and a half back - where we wanted to transfer contacts from one phone to another... I was sickened to learn that nowhere were there any options to "transfer all contacts" in one swoop... If you wanted to transfer between phones via bluetooth or IRDA or whatever then you had to do it ONE CONTACT AT A TIME!!!!! That meant about 3 or four keypresses on the one Blokia and say 2 or 3 keypresses on the receiving end - FOR EACH CONTACT!!!!!??!??!!!
' For someone who has 500+ contacts this can be a very serious issue! In fact - I think it's a usability issue for anyone.

' This is just one (other!), relatively minor I'll give you, example of Nokia's continued stupidity - but it's hardly an isolated issue... Nokia keeps making some really odd / bizzarre mistakes or choices in their handsets that makes me frustrated, wanna scream, or scratch my head (or all of the above!!!) in confusion!

' But there you go. Rant over. Sorry. Some comments earlier in the thread / page just kicked off this memory that I had to share! <S>

' So yeah. From Blokia and never going back - not unless they make some really huge and permanent changes and improve their track record (in my eyes at least) significantly!!!
' SE for me for now at least.
' It's gotta be Symbian IMNSHO... And UIQ stands heads-and-shoulders above the other Symbian interfaces in my book too - so the choices left me are pretty obvious.

' There. I'm done. <smiles>
' ~Moi

LOL @ 786KBR's lack of faith in my abilities...didn't you know that in a previous life I was mystic healer? I'm waiting to unlock the mysteries of the N70 which have seemingly left you pulling your hair out.

I'll let you know once I get the phone how the task of synchorinising it with Outlook is going...I doubt it's as painful as you've described.

@Brix, I guess the fact that he is a 'Nokia hatter' may play a part too No problems on my site - what so ever. For a change Nokia is supplying working, useful software with the package. And if you use the 'GNU Box' even back ground sync is possible ! ( Phone will sync with Laptop/Pc without user input as long as they are previously paired and within bluetooth range)
A while back I've stumbled online over a 'brilliant' 18 years old from Maputo. He is the most clued up person what S60/N70 concerns - I ever met ! (And trust me, I met quite a few from 'engineers' to backward 'mechanics' over the last 4 years or so). Here is his web address for the ones who care about Symbian S60/Nokia N70.

Will definitely check out the site.

Just downloaded the alpha version(?) of TCPMP...It's supposed to be the best media player for UIQ this side of the Smartmovie universe but seemingly I can't get it to work...if Ive got some more time will check for other version.
