Hi to all. It's been a long time since I last visited here.
Anyone here had a problem installing the PC Suit for P990? If yes, where you able to solve it and how?
Thanks in advance.

What trouble have you experienced?
My Win2K machine will not install the full package nor would it accept the USB drivers. I discovered that the MMS composer crashed the system when installing the font package. Removing this from the installation fixed that.
However, the USB drivers used for the connectivity will not install without crashing the sub-system. It could be problem on my end, but i have never had such problems before so attribute it to flaky programming.
They seem to work fine on WinXP however.

Hi my P990i has just arrived by courier, seems OK but dont like the fact all my existing SE chargers cables etc are now redundant!
So I wonder if you guys can help wher can I buy a car charger that will allow me to have a wired headset attached,
Can I buy a USB cable that will allow me to sync and charge at the same time (similar to that supplied with the orange and white Walkman phone W800i?)
The hands free supplied is OK, but I prefer the in ear style of wired headsets like my mate with the W800 has but I must still be able to use voice dial and answer facilitys the P990i offers (I dont find BT headsets to offer the lever of reliability I require), do SE supply such a set if so where do I get it from please?
Phone is now on charge for suggested 4 hours so just reading the manual at present and waiting to see how much branding Voda have put on and then to see what they have disabled! |

The official charger allows having a handsfree attached.
The USB supplied should charge the phone too.
The handsfree that comes with the W800 will work too, its called the HPM-70. Although the HBH-DS970 stereo BT headset has the same buds but is wire free and you can steam your music to it.!

@coxy,
Thanks mate I went and had a look whilst the phone is charging I completly missed the hands free socket,
I will order the HPM-70 now, I really like the idea of bluetooth especialy the HBH-DS970 but I have had four BT headsets
now and every one has been a royal pain in the backside especialy when I am in a hurry! the first was a Jabra BT 200 wich would refuse to pair at least once a week,
Then came the truely appaling SE HBH 65 which would only pair when it felt like it, and was totaly unless in the car, If I was traveling at more than 30 mph when I recived a call no one could hear me, as for making a voice dialed call in car forget it, the thing could not block out background noise.
I then got given a blue spoon and gave it away about a day later horrible little thing I dont think it ever made one connection without a problem!
the last was free with the GF's V3i its a cheap little black Motorola thing that uses an AAA battery most of the time its OK but every now and then I have to shut down the phone to get it to recognise the ruddy hands free!!!!
plus they all made me look stupid with them clamped to my head I could take no more so I have kind of given up on the BT headset concept now. Some of the staff keep asking me to recomend a set so they can get them on the company, but I just cant find one that works all the time everytime.

just a quick question, am I right in asuming that ANY "Fast Port" accessories will work with the P990i?

I'm running windows xp 64bit and the software won't even install. So I've dug out my old vaio from the loft and am using that for all work related stuff. I've been told by SE customer support that they should have a 64bit version released in time for vista :S
The phone still rocks though.
I'm using the firmware that came with the phone (because I'm unable to update and I dodn't think there is one for vodafone p990i's) and after the problems with the first few days I've not had a single crash. Also I can have loads of progs running at the same time without a problem. |
