Can u show us some pictures of the Vodafone brand X1 pls? The main reason put me off from vodafone is their branding!

fortunately voda branding on WM is usually non-existent. My Samsung i780 had no branding whatsoever - the only vodafone touch was the data settings, which can be changed or deleted anyway.

Hopefully this is the case with X1 also

opera works just as good as on the diamond so my feeling really is that if you used this in the dark you probably could not tell it apart from the HTC offerings.

Can't tell them apart? functionally I guess so.
But what about the larger screen with more content, and the brilliant and sharper display?

Can you please, verify this picture comparison from Asia Znet? I can see only a picture in a web page but you can see the real thing.

Thanks.

Here's a pic I found here which, although not a real screen image of course, suggests no branding on the housing but branding in the firmware

Where you bought it and do they ship to USA?

What's the price and do we pay VAT?

Is yours unbranded?

got it from Carphone Warehouse, I doubt they ship overseas, it was £539 and its unbranded

Someone were asking how the camera in X1 is.
Well, when it comes to image quality I find it to be not as good as the one in P990. But the images look good as long as you keep them in the phone. And for everyday use they will do fine.
The video quality is rather lousy. At the moment I don't want to use VGA resolution in video recording, because it stutters if you move the phone too fast and the image quality is quite bad. I would say that the over all quality is better when using QVGA.

In this specific video I recorded for your enjoyment, it was actually quite fluid even though it was shot in VGA resolution, but the quality is still pretty poor in my opinion.

Video recording made with X1 -> http://video.grundaren.se/MOV_0159.3gp

Here are also a few pictures. They are directly out of the phone. Judge for yourselves.

So un-riddle this: do you need a stylus for on-screen text entry, or did they add some finger friendly input panel?

I know I'm not Masseur, but I would like to give my view of it anyway.
Many tasks can be performed with just the fingers. But I often find myself reaching for the stylus because it makes things easier. You can however use the optical joystick in many situations, but I still need to remember that. I think it takes a little while getting used to it.

EDIT: Sorry, I read too fast. In the swedish version we don't even have the text-recognition. We only have that very small keyboard, which might work if you have very small fingers. When I try to use it without stylus I get the correct character 4 times out of 10.

For us American users (which as far as I remember seems to be just myself and WhyBe ), I've taken a gamble and placed an order with clove.co.uk since they are claiming to have the phone in stock.
Hopefully I get the damn thing; if I have luck I'll let you know These international orders always worry me! Anyone in the UK get theirs from Clove? I wanted to confirm they really are totally unlocked-unbranded...

I'm from H-Town, Texas.

Expansys-UK will get it next week and those in the US who pre-ordered from expansys will probably get it on November 3rd or 4th (seeing how shipping usually takes 3-5 business days).

They work sometimes.
I haven't put much investigation in this though. It may depend on whether you are connected via WAP or through WLAN.

/Michael

EDIT: I tried the links now, while connected through my WLAN, and they didn't work. But when I'm connected via WAP they do.
Don't ask my why. Probably a normal SE decision to make it this way.
So you shouldn't expect them to change it. Listening to customers is probably something they will never start doing.

EDIT2: My bad. They doesn't work however I'm connected. But I do know that they have worked before. And I also know they didn't work the day I got my phone. So I guess they will work sometimes, and sometimes not. Maybe the server is just overloaded now when everyone want to try it? The same would probably have occured two weeks ago when many people received their phones in Scandinavia.

nah, it won't connect anywhichway. I'll try again later

I just noticed that there's a wayfinder CD in the box but I've already installed tomtom 7 and Garmin XT so I won't bother with that

TT7 works well with touch as it is the version that was for the HTC Touch Diamond, but the Garmin XT still requires the use of the stylus

Sorry been doing the family thing today so couldn't reply sooner.

Re VODAFONE branding

On the Box - just a smallish logo
On the handset - No logo on the front, small logo on the back under SE logo
On start up - just normal WM screen
Panels - there is a Vodafone panel as per pic

All in all not a huge amont of VF branding!

No memory card in the box but like Masseur there is a Wayfinder disk. Vodafone Find and go service also preloaded.

This is my first WM device so I am finding my way slowly

Sorry for quality of pics, taken with web cam for speed.

Thanks for the last pic. I waited to see X1 vs P1. If it is possible plese give a short summary about differences between two regarding user friendliness, etc, what you are happy about and what you miss. Thanks in advance
