funks...the files I gave you last week are the North American lang. set. I guess I just have to shoot for Western Euro, right? I'll do that tomorrow...I guess I will just flash the Cingular with my R5D007 emma2 flash that is the cleanest I can be certain of and then go from there.

Let me know if you need anything else. My buddy Adam has a P800, brand new and I will visit him to see how much...hopefully I will have this new toy by tomorrow night...other than that, nothing new. I will try to get some new S/E oem faceplates cause the Cingular is butt ugly! I also have another guy looking into led's on the phone...the light is sort of weak, for me.

I'll give you updates and status as I go, funks...Hey, whatever happened to the trailblazer, waikincheng? Still around?

@av0135,

I saw his posting on HoFo by the end of Oct. and he got 3 of P800 up for sale for $2800 a piece and I think toward the end of that thread it seems he sold them all.

Cool phone so let us know all about it if you get your hand on it!

AT&T has released some new T68i branded as T68is.. The only thing different with it I believe is that it comes with the R5D007 firmware by default.. I'll try to snag one and dump the firmware for the AT&T peeps.

In the same vein, I thought I had read somewhere that EMMAII now showed a firmware update to R5D007 for AT&T t68i's with hw rev R6B. If that's true, then It would be great if someone could get that firmware upgrade from EMMAII, then post it here. It seems like that would be the best firmware to use for someone with an AT&T R6B t68i, since that would be for the exact same hw rev.

The Artic Blue faceplate is indeed quite FEM - I was able to trade my adriatic blue faceplate with a mineral gray from howardforums

As for the P800, last time I heard, Adam was selling it for a crazy price, you can get the P800 development kit which includes codewarrior

http://www.ericsson.com/mobilityworld/sub/ecommerce/products/p800bundle.html

for 1150$

A P800 is not in my future, I'm a 2 Device Guy and will be plunking my hard earned cash on the new iPAQ 5450 instead

Yeah funks...me too, I think I will go with either the Casio E740 or the Ipaq 3975 with the bluetooth built in..can't live without bluetooth you know. Anyways, he has my phone right now, and will be putting the Western Euro on it by this evening. I already flashed it to R5D007_ESF (my own previously) so I hope it will take the western euro ok. Anyways, if everything goes according to plan, I should have another new fw dump sometime tomorrow, it will be R5D007_WESTEURO in all the three formats (10mb, 8 and 2 mb's respectively). I just hope that he will be able to upgrade it.

As far as the P800 is concerned, I think that I can surely wait, I believe that it is going for in excess of 1800 bucks...I can get an ipaq for about 650 and have plenty of cash left over for more toys, like the nokia 3650, I got two coming, very soon!!! Oh, and more credits. Take care funks, how are you coming along with that cold?

Pay a bit more and go for the 5450 instead It has Bluetooth and WiFi Good for that Starbucks trip, + when you are on the road..

The e740 has a small screen, has buggy buttons, activesync issues..
I used to have a 3975 and it's a great unit, sold it to get the 5450..

We will have an AT&T T68is R5D007 firmware soon thanks to adavidw

He used the AT&T R5C001 on his R6C AT&T and it screwed up BT.. So I've updated the list (and added mrj82's)..

I also screwed up an T68i R3A -> T68i R5D007 (EU) - BT doesn't work.

Thanks funks for the info on the 5450...didn't even know it existed...BT and WiFi in one package, not to mention that great screen? Why not!! Thanks.

Hey, on your last post on the mishap with the latest flashes, were bt and ir turned off? Did you do a master reset? I just did three..didn't even care what versions of hardware of fw they were, just followed my own prep steps and all three are working fine...turned out they were tmobile r6d, at&t r6b and cingular r5b...not a single mishap...standby times were fine. I used the NA language set, the same one I gave to you...so, what now? Where's the glitch? I went out and bought an older laptop..just made sure it was sssssllllllooooowww, and had a serial port, that's it. Let me know what you think...thanks.

First off, a big thank-you to the various people that have made positive contributions to this excellent thread (I've read it through twice now).

I'd like to share details of my successful experience:

I own a T68m from VoiceStream with hardware ver.: R4C and dated: 02W20. Firmware: R2B013. Unlocked.

(1) ordered the Flashing cable from gsmsquare.com and it took 7 days to arrive from Hong Kong.

(2) ordered logs and EricssonClient from LVWireless and used av0135's T68m_R5D007 firmware hosted on funk's page.

Following the various recommendations in this post, I was able to [1] backup the existing firmware files and [2] reflash the new firmware files. The EricssonClient hung at 100% after the ARM file (the status bar indicated "Flashing Address: 1f0000"), but exiting the application at that point and turning on the phone showed that the process had completed properly.

I had no post-flash Bluetooth issues. I've been able to pair with my PC and various PDAs (including Palm Tungsten T; Palm m505 with Bt-SDIO Card; Sony Clie NX70V with BtMS Card) and everything seems to be working great. (I haven't decided which Bt headset to get yet, so I can't comment on that).

I noticed a reduction in the Battery Life estimates found in the Status menu, but not the ~50 hour Stby. reported by some. Previously I'd recorded Talk = 12 hours; Stby = 333 hours (Bt off) and 270 hours (Bt on). Now my estimates show: Talk = 8:26; Stby (Bt off) = 207 hours and 207 hours (Bt on). As other posters have hypothesized, this is probably just a more accurate estimation (it's certainly closer to my real-world experience!).

funk - if you'd like to host my R2B013 image, please send an email to danatdeeptecdotcom and I'd be happy to send you a copy.

av0135 - a couple of observations about your R5D007 firmware dump: it appears it originated from a british provider called One2One as default WAP settings are for that provider. Also, Service Test menus show Joystick Counter = 1398 and Total Call Time = 21:04 so funk might want to update the firmware table.

Anyways, I'm extremely pleased with the end result - the only disappointment is that I had the doubled Carrier lines on my main screen before and after the upgrade. But, that is a small price to pay for the new functionality.

Cheers,

Dan

DanRoyea...glad to hear and read your post. This is the way I truly feel it should be done, as exemplified by your post. You sound like a true veteran..and I think it is contributed to reading this long yet informative post.

Let me state some truths about flashing: Unless you have emma2 and your phone is in status quo with what emma2 will do for you, most flash dumps will not be clean...I am trying to rectify that..the next dump will be Western Euro, with 10-15 joystick counts and 0:00:00 total call time. I am trying to collect more types of t68i's to do this with. I currently just purchased another one, a Cingular phone cause I wanted to see if I could circumvent some of the menu locks on Cingular..by flashing first and then having emma2 take a run at it. More on this as I proceed.

But do not know if we can revert the joystick count from previous flashes, as well as total call times...anymore took notes on this with their flashes...I didn't even want to go into the service menu for fear of adding up more joystick counts...Just trying to keep it clean. So hold on, and we'll see if we can get to the bottom of the situation.

As for your bt on/off functionality affecting standby and talk times, set it to automatic, not on...unless you're using voice dialing and calling features, which I believe you're not using yet for lack of bt headset.

danroyea..another thing..it doesn't sound like the fw belonged to me. My were R5D007_ESF named..and the talk time sounded high as well as the joystick count...you might want to clear this up with funks...if you want, there is another place I put the files...let me know and you can have the direct download path. But really, I don't think I put any T68m stuff up there, I'm really not interested in t68m stuff, just t68i and R5D007 in diff language sets. Let me know.

Hello AV,

Tried another R6B following your method..

Master Reset First
Turn off Bluetooth
Turn off IR

and basically, I updated an R6B to the new AT&T T68is R5D007 firmware I posted on my site and *BLUETOOTH* still works. BTW, for people wanting to use that firmware, the lock code by default is "2188". Do a master reset after flashing and it will be clean..

It has 0 on the call timer and only 200 joystick moves..

Was flashed using a 2.2 GHZ P4

The R3A T68i I flashed had BT failure (using the T68i EU firmware)..
I didn't turn off the BT before flashing that one though..

BTW, the AVR file *DEFINITELY* holds the customizations, not the ARM.

It's a non-issue for me -- my phone was fairly new but my Joystick counts went from 11,000+ to 1398 and I *know* my total call time was over the 21:04 I ended up with

I tend to keep it "On" because the Tungsten T has *wonderful* integration:
T|T << Bluetooth >> T68i
It's like they were made for each other!

Cheers,

Dan

I downloaded from this link: http://www.pocketbuddy.com/files/SE/T68m-R5D007-2File.zip

The two ROMs were: R5D007_T68m_AVR.bin and *_ARM.bin with a modified date of 11/27/02 7pm

Thanks for the offer of another firmware image, but I'm perfectly content with what I've got...
...heh, until R6A001 comes out

Cheers,

Dan
