I doubt that Sony will give them the option to choose between LCD and OLED in the future.
If the next device is LCD, it will probably be the last one. Like it or not, OLED technology can be improved, LCD not so much.
They will stop using LCD just like they did with the headphone jack.
It's just a matter of time. |

I know SONY love bulk buying. That's why Xperia keep using 3GB RAM, 64GB ROM, same CMOS for 3 generation.
I also don't think they will give people this option. Unless they made a mistake. Brought way too many LCD but they now start to catch up the trends. So, they just try everything to use all those leftovers.
And the 2nd FCC id looks like a tablet... |

This tablet seem to be weak. b/g/n WiFi? Where is ac? Comparing to existing Xperias it looks like Xperia L2 Tablet... MT6737T is only a/b/g/n SoC Sony used in last 2 years.
No ac means no flaghsip device, co both MTK and Qualcomm flagship SoCs already have it. |

Or maybe a 18:9" version of L2.
That would be like xa2+ with mtk6737. |

I dont understand about the burn in issue
It is not so prominent in the current crop of flagships
Oled is the step forward not lcd.

It is impossible to prevent burn in. Many phones have but is not always easy to see.
If you check on reddit, you find users that had it within 1 week.
Pixel 2XL, note 8, s7, iphone x, Axon7 etc...
Why do low ends don't have the cam button?

The fcc docs show it using the ESP32, and this only has a 2.4ghz radio, no 5ghz.
from the spec sheet
802.11 b/g/n
802.11 n (2.4 GHz), up to 150 Mb
In one of the docs this link is shown
https://dev-dashboard.tracking.sonymobile.com/all.html
so it does seem to be part of sonymobile. I thought perhaps like a google home or amazon alexa device but even the google one features 2.4/5.0 wifi with 802.11b/g/n/ac, so not sure if Sony would released an inferior product.
Oddly enough this was testing a production device and not pre-production or prototype.

They said LCD because they only have access to the render, not specs.
At this point they should launch a phone with OLED.

In the new renders for the XZ3 there's a notch at the bottom of rear of the device, anyone have any clue as what it could be for?
