I did a roll back also before. And just did a fresh install again of KitKat, same snappy performance and no issues so far besides the camera sometimes freezes while using the camera button(hardware key) when I have not entered my PIN yet.
That does not bother me much, since i like the google camera app better. Just need to find a way to assogn a different app to that camera key |

4k video recording and timeshift ported to Z1.
Only steadyshot don't work.
I would like to see the face of Sony's developers when this goes public

Guys, there was an update of info eye camera app today and after updating, the camera app starts quickly, doesn't hang up, doesn't crashes and camera UI is faster. Just like how it used to be before the kitkat update. Now the app runs almost as fine as on previous android versions...
Can others confirm the same? |

I didn't get many crashes before, but yes I think you are correct - it feels snappier. |

that is good to know.. but i'd still like a regular firmware update too!
i'm waiting for one before i go back to kitkat again.. i love how fast my Z1 is on jellybean.. don't want to go through the process of reconfiguration for a laggy experience.

Does feel quicker not idea how such an update would change camera settings, unless the info eye app was causing the lag from the start. |

Guys, on KitKat I regularly get "camera not available" error when I start my camera. After a fresh reboot it would function normally, then after a while, starting the camera again via quick launch would cause it to freeze after my first shot and I'd have to put it on standby before quick launching it again. I would then be able to use it normally but with the lag not present from previous iterations. After a few days, the camera would just go blank and not just using the default camera but with any other image capturing app where I will have to reboot it only to start the cycle again. I've tried the Xperia T2 camera at a Sony store at it too showed the same symptoms as my Z1. I'm very sure it's a software issue as my Z1 had worked flawlessly until now, and the fact that a show unit can present the same symptoms only shows that it's bad programming. The question is, am I the only one with this problem since I'm not hearing serious complaints and if so, how come it's so poorly addressed?

You are not the only one, I have the same issues like I said some posts ago. I just use the google camera app. Works for me. More annoying is the problem that the phone won't allow me to move files from the internal memory to the SDcard.
Already so annoyed i just might switch back to IOS for that reason and just buy an iPhone with atleast 64Gb. But that Moto360 looks so sweet |

New firmware certified for the Z1 today with build number 14.4.A.0.108 http://www.ptcrb.com/vendor/c[....]equest_guest.cfm?modelid=24328
Looks like a decent upgrade with my current build number 14.3.A.0.757
Let's hope for some big improvements and maybe some of the exclusive apps the Z2 has ie 4K video recording and Timeshift video.

I highly dobt Sony will include 4K video and timeshift. Its probably a bug fix.

Must build numbers for bug fixes only change the last 3 numbers and all but the the first number (14) is all different and surely Sony could port 4K and Timeshift video to the Z1. The Z has the majority of apps the Z1 got a few months after the Z1 was released so who knows.

Android version 4.4.4 is now rolling out for the Z1, Z1 Compact and the Z Ultra http://www.xperiablog.net/201[....]ria-z1-and-z-ultra/#more-26376
Well done Sony that was a fast roll out, I believe only Nexus devices have this firmware as of now

According to that link it's only rolling out to the Z1 Compact, but a similar FW has been certified for Z1 and Z Ultra.
Fast work there, I hope Sony can do the same with the big OS updates, AFAIK 4.4.4 on Nexus phones is a mere 2-3mb update.
