 S9 name with an edge display? Now I'm pretty sure they are trolling.
There were rumors about a new series debut at IFA this year, maybe Sony is really misleading people. Maybe the render is midrange? |

What do you mean? SONY doesn't leak anythings. They even try everything to against leakages. What we now see is the people brave enough to leak out some info. |

A staple of Galaxies is curved displays, and latest iteration is the S9. Sony making a curved display phone and naming it S9 just sounds like a joke. What I mean by "they" is Sony. As if they are intentionally leaking false info, I'm not saying leaksters are the trolls.
Also for the new series, even this thread's first post says a new design and a new name with an impressive cam. We got new design and cam but no new names so far. I just don't think Sony would change the name for this iterative design. Maybe they'll do it I don't know. IFA is not to far now.

Some phones have second 5MP ( same focal length) that acts like depth sensor to create the defocus.

I wouldn't say the XZ2P got there a good result, even though it has a 4K screen.

I was told the XZ3 has just under 6" of screen with a slightly slimmer body than the XZ2, it is supposed to be less curved so it feels smaller. Unfortunately, I think it will have a bigger footprint so even closer to S9+ than the S9. I'm hoping for the XZ3 Compact to show up at IFA. I think the XZ3 has no headphone jack. Heard nothing about OLED or hero device. |

Size does not matter if they fix what they did to xz2 front cam.
Difference between xz2 selfie and xz2p is shocking.
8MP is capable of 4K but just Nokia 8 has it so far.
Many should offer it already. |

Fixing what? How can you put a large CMOS inside a smaller bezel? SONY keeping the bezel in the pass is for putting those large front and rear camera. Not just the design. You can tell if you had watched every teardown vedio.

Thanks for the info. So, it is even more contradiction to what we had heard. Jack is gone and never came back. Compact series just show up once every year. |

Smaller bezel of xz2 compared to xz2p had no benefits.
It is better than s9, but worse than even X.
The f2.4 was even worse choice.
2.0 was good enough.
Is the dual selfie for IFA?

I think the XA3 will be what we wish the XZ3 was in design or we will wish the XA3 had waterproofing. The XZ3 becomes bigger than the S9+ without the dual camera, under 6" screen which is why I'm more interested in the compact. |
