Fbloise has been using Windows 8 Pro today installed on his laptop. He says it's fast,no bugs so far and it's like using a Lumia but on desktop!!

I wondered if the trial/beta version is still downloadable. I would love to give 8 a try.

Just played with Windows 8 touch screen pc today. One word, stunning. Fast, smooth with beautiful UI like the live tiles on Windows phone and IE10 was fast. Can't wait to someday get one

I hope it can really keep up that performance, the current lack of it slows me down so much at work its unreal.
Looking forward to seeing more. |

I think that Caspa means that apps that are not 8ready get you back to a 7screen.
Just a matter of time.
RT won't play non8 anyhow.

I meant I hope the performance of Windows 8 that Bono speaks of is sustainable, XP and 7 work for a time but freak out so often it becomes the norm for me... Use the time for coffee making...

Have just put windows 8 pro 64bit on my girlfriends 3yr old laptop yesterday (£49.99 for 1 user licence at Tesco, currys,pc world)
Looks ok but havent had much time to do anything else with it yet.
So far though I dont like the fact that you MUST have a microsoft/hotmail account (i use google not msn) and a lot is cloud based.
UI seems nice. Having a mess with it tomorrow to restore all the files.
I tried sniffing coke once but didnt like it. The bubbles kept going up my nose |

What?? You DO have to have a Hotmail account to even use it?? Seems silly maybe people will complain and they'll disable that. Luckily I do as my primary email now. Hate Gmail

Just a formality, no need to use it.
