re Vodafone branded 'fone - anyone know if SE will /ever/ release a version of the firmware for these phones?
(quite happy suffering the vodafone version, just want the bugs fixed, and don't want to send it away) |

If you have a Vodafone branded K700i with R2V001 then you have a version that is little bit later than the current R2L001 that is available at the Sony Ericsson Update Service. R2V001 came after R2L001 so they managed to fix a few things and include some stuff that is missing in R2L001, like the "Auto-save on SIM" feature.
I think it's a little bit funny that the people here who have talked so bad about Vodafone and it's branding of the K700i actually have an older software avalaible while Vodafone users have a version with a few more bug fixes and original features that is missing in R2L001.
I guess no one really noticed that R2V001 is something in between R2L001 and R2AA003, but named R2V001 (and, of course, only available for Vodafone users). |

Nope - only got R2A041 - bought the phone in June - did take it to a Carphone Warehouse store where they very kindly took it away for 2 hours and flashed it with R2A041 again.
Have borrowed a DS25 to see if I could flash it to a new(er) version, but as it is a Vodafone UK specific, it of course wouldn't work. |

Check response of wsx(in the middle) and CyberVisitor(last one on the page). This is what I said.

@CyberVisitor
I doubt - because of this - that the latest firmware is r2l on SEUS (point to ScriptVersion in the log)

@Rex:
20.30.49:620 8 Info ScriptVersion = R2AA003 R2AA003
20.30.49:620 9 Info DeviceVersion = R2L001 R2L001
What does ScriptVersion mean? |

@hazart
It could mean for me, the available fw is R2AA003, and the device fw is R2L001 -> ready to update
And I think, who has - as wsx has - warning rows, is unable to update his mobile. |

But I am not sure what file has been deleted. Really weird, this one. |

What we found commonly that could be deleted/damaged is a frame. Do you have all frames and you can use all? |

@Rex:
You said it! I have lost the very first frame, Angel, and a frame named Mediterranean.
There is something else going wrong after SEUS as well. These are the ones I've noticed and there could be more:
1. The Sony Ericsson.gif got corrupted and refuses deletion. When I tried to replace it with a file of the same name. The corrupted gif automatically changed its name to Sony Ericsson_(1).gif. When I tried to replace Sony Ericsson_(1).gif, it became Sony Ericsson_(1)_(1).gif. I got as far as Sony Ericsson_(1)_(1)_(2)_(3)_(4).gif until I lost my patience to carry on. It is still there after several SEUS updates and recoveries, several master resets, and several 13 second tricks. It will be there forever!
2. The Start-up sceen and Shutdown screen got corrupted as well and no matter what I do, they are still corrupted.
3. Peacock Feathers.jpg, is blank every time after master reset - reset all. However, it could be deleted and replaced by downloading a correct one to the phone.
As CyberVisitor correctly pointed out in this thread: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=77463&start=15 , SEUS often corrupts the firmware while performing the update.

Maybe your phone needs reflashing by a servicepoint.

@kenski:
Will reflashing at a service point solve the problem? I must give it try then.
I have always been wondering what software and hardware SE service centers use to reflash phones. Anyone any ideas? |

Somebody told here, when he removed and put the battery back, some bugs disappeared. Though I doubt that you can get your missing frame back... |
