Hi!
Iīm surpriced that nobody has complained about the difference in performance in the video @ SEīs G900 page, and the actual phones performance!?
Now I know it doesnīt promise that the video shows exactly what you get but this is really ridiculos.
In the video itīs really fast when "throwing" pics sideways and they roll on as in IPhone.
The truth is nowere near this.
I emailed SE and asked how they can show such false demo-video.
Their answer was: "The video only shows how easy the interface is to use and is can differ from the phone in some aspects, please se our legal pages... etc"
I answered back:
That this isnīt a legitimit answer.
The phone is not this easy to use as you need a lot more actions to flip through pics than it shows.
And explain this, you have other demo-videos that show how the phone DOES work, that shows just as much how easy it is to use!?
I boght this phone beliving that this was a new model with alot more CPU than earlier models.
(Have had the P800. P900, P990+many non-smart phones, and now G900)
Yesterday I got an answer (waiting about a week)
"We are very sorry for the false info on our website. We have discussed your comments and we have sent this to the responsible peaople and hope that this will as soon as possible be corrected."
Imagine that the giant SE took a step back and I took a step forward!?
Itīs still to be shown that SE really does change this..
The X1 looks promising though..
Kind regards
Mike

Hey...everybody here knows, for months, what processor it has...
And if people want to know its speed of operation, this video is clear
http://youtube.com/watch?v=VzV-6Ocpecs
Not on par with latest s60 devices, but its not super slow either. And fact is, thereīs nothing quite like it on the competition (small + touch screen + normal keypad), at same time |

Just where on the SE website does it say what processor the G900 has then? IMO no where. The G900 uses an improved version of the P1i platform, as you can see in the vid, this along with the improved UIQ makes it run faster then my P1i does. You should also take note the N92 and N76 even are house bricks next to the G700 and G900. Look at the pics on the web comparing them.
Te G900 IS a new model, however SE has never told the public what spec CPU it has. You would have to see the white paper which aren't for public eyes anyway but developers eyes (Am I right saying that?) and also from reading web forums. |

I know hehehe, I was just pointing out how you cannot complain when the info your using is not officially public knowledge.
But UIQ devices can improve speed with firmware updates anyway. The photo scrolling is misleading I would imagine though.

Hi!
There is no info on the SE-website what CPU G900 have, and there would be no point to do so because most people wonīt know whatīs good or bad, but the Demo-movie there is whatīs wrong.
Do you actually think that all who look at phones at SEīs site check youtube for different more correct videos??
Or that every customer reads in this forum and get to know about everything not true in the video??
No, they donīt.
Most people just check the original site info, then goes out to buy one..
Since SE is changing the video, obviously they agree something is wrong..
You donīt have to get all defensive, I have always used SE, and before that Ericsson so Iīm not here only to complain and stir the pot.
/M
Edit: I agree about the really slim and nice phone in every other aspect, great screen and size!

What video was changed???
Man, we were not attacking you
I think most of us think the G900 is really a nice addition to SE portfolio, and UIQ scene in general, although it does not offer a real hardware upgrade.
It should however sell very well, and encourage SE to keep releasing such kind of devices, only with updated spec (imagine G902 or whatever G900 successor will be called, with same size, but with integrated gps and a faster processor) |

@Prutta,
I agree with the video. I was just commenting on the CPU as I thought you complained to SE about it? I think I got that wrong. I haven't seen a vid showing the photo's scrolling actually. But can't imagine it's that fast. I don't like the new vid though, preferred the one with the hands. |

Just want o add that the youtube video i posted was made with a retail G900 by Mizzle from se-nse blog, not by SE

Okey.
Yeah, like you guys I really like this phone, It was even smaller than I expected (ordered online).
Normally I check things out here @ Esato before I buy.
This time I had no time for that, was going to buy a K850, but I thought that a quick look at SEīs site wouldnīt hurt..
I thought, WOW what a nice phone, ordered one at once, and didnīt get what I was expecting, just got a little disapointed.
As you say, if there will be an upgrade with more CPU-power, oh man what a killer!
I really think the G900 is quick at opening stuff, unlike the previous phones I had, this keep once opened all programs active wich make a great difference..
Kind regards

I really, really like this phone. Just wish the build quality was a bit better. Battery cover doesn't fit as it should and is already squeaking after 3 weeks.
Once open, the applications switch really quickly. Went back to my M600 yesterday to do something and boy is that painfully slow.
I also find the camera fine for what it is. Would love 1 of these with an M600 qwerty and GPS.

Mm-yes. They'll remove the video. lol.
But it's a good overall point. (Specially when it's obvious that some of the slow- downs come from inefficient use of data- stores and threading, and so on, that probably comes from being happy about how the program looks in the emulator - or the tech- demo.)
I'd really like to see all companies put out real footage of how the UI runs, though. That would be kind of funny. No more fluid and scaling vector- graphics and transformations in high definition - just square boxes with a small animation. LG would have to show the Chocolat taking an hour to get the phone- book open and then hanging. SE would have lagging visuals on the media- player. Nokia with jumps in the animations on the phone menu every time something else is done on the phone. And every WM unit would have a caption saying "this was on a fresh boot".
("And here we see that the performance in the menu scrolling drops significantly when playing something in the background. And how it takes longer to get to the standby menu after some use, for no discernible reason"). I'd go for that kind of commercial.
