Let's hope that if SE indeed will come out with yet another new FW by this month's end, that they include the option to save video in mp4 directly.

I upgraded the firmware to R9 four days ago and even though it was generally improved I had some new problems e.g. the green light is off, whenever I made a video call the screen was stuck and I had to remove the battery, it kept telling me that there was not enough memory for various applications. I did a master reset and re installed it and only the video call problem was solved. |

I was playing with my friends P900 earlier today and all i can say is.. I wish my P990 was that fast! Can anyone who had almost all P series tell me how long did it take for them to sort out to speed of those phones now days?
Will P990 ever be fast like that and if so when will that be? |

It might be a relativity thing... The P900 might have been slow for its time. Just try running old DOS games on a Windows XP computer and you'll notice that some of them will be running too fast since they are made for slower computers...

Or, try running Win XP on a PIII / 64MB RAM computer. That's how UIQ3 would probably perform on the older P series. Having said that, I would like to see UIQ3 running faster and having a better organized menu structure, one that can also be customized. For example, I have created a folder called "Applications" where I have placed the applications I have installed. I would like that folder to be the first item in the main menu but there is no way to do it, it's the last one!!!
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

Sorry but I have to say its a speed thing my P900 and P910 were much much faster than my P990 when performing simple everyday PIM tasks.
The simple fact is the P990 is not anywhere near as fast at the previous P series phones I can check any test anyone likes to set I have all three versions at home and belive me I have checked!
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

Just got my un-branded/locked P990 with firmware
Phone: CXC162037 R4B001
CDA: 162007/2 R2A01
It's generally fine almost as fast as a P910. Takes almost 45 secs to start up from the logo. But hasn't locked up yet. Only hiccup is when takng consecutive photos and you close the camera app via the back button then turn close the back cover and re-start the camera will it re-start to improve performance. Other wise no problems.
Question is if there would be any significant changes if I upgarde firmwares? Might as well not if there isn't ...

Was this even mentioned ? with the new FW,
When using the P990 FLIP OFF mode, and when you want to call numbers like in the US, like :
1-800- CALLME
1-817- WLASERS
1-212- JOHNSONS
When you press and hold space bar, the dial screen appears however the letters associated to each number on the numbers are not shown so we just have to guess the number by fluking
GH337, GH388, GH 688, SH 888, P800, P900, P910 and now P990i and P1i and HTC Touch Pro |
