As for firmware issues - it's about time that the phone is due for an update. It's been more than a month. Dedicated people working out the bugs on this phone every day should be more than enough for an organization like SE to roll out an update.

How do you know there is a dedicated group that does nothing but sit there and wait for people to complain about bugs and then fix them? Do you really think for a minute that SE wants to release a buggy product? Do you really think SE wants to hear the constant gripping and complaining, and whining of several members (insert name here) of this thread who repeat the same thing over and over and over. We all know the phone has bugs so either get over it and wait, or take the phone back. To continue to complain, and complain, and whine is beyond the point of annoying. If you have a real gripe about a bug, post it, but for the sake of all here, quit with the non-stop complaining.

sapporobaby are you working at sonyericsson? why you keep on defending them, since they release a phone that have many bugs, we are the victims, they should have release a new firmware to correct those bugs quickly.

I dont care that much 'bout the bugs on the K800i. First of all it's to my ears and eyes minor bugs compered to T610 first release for example. But still I wanna have them fixed in an update.
So points to both of you.

Sony Ericsson can care less about the complaining. It's the bug list that helps them out. Do we even know they read this page? Who knows, unless someone from SE can verify this. The ranting we hear here from board users including myself helps to keep the pressure on SE to deliver. Right now, they aren't.
I'm leaning more towards dissapointment than bitching about a half-assed phone. You can't just shove out a product that is bugged in some ways to the public and release updates periodically to fix it. It's an unprofessional way to run a business. Perhaps my level of tolerance for the bugs is lower than that of other users here.
So far approximately a month has elapsed after this phone was released. So far little to no bugs have been fixed. Perhaps the next update may fix all and end all... but looking at the K750i's F/W history, I doubt it will happen.
And most importantly, this phone is going to be phased out in a year for enthusiasts. A month has gone by. |

@ DIAMOND - Are you serious? It hasn't got that many bugs and the ones it has are minor ones.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a simple checklist for all the whiners out there
Can you do the following on your K800\\K790?
1) Make a call to someone else
2) Send a text to someone else
3) Take a picture
4) Play music
If you can answer yes to all the above then get over yourself, the phone is working as designed. If you answer no to any of them then you are not using a K800\\K790 or you're mentally inadequate.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
@ obentou - Try answering the questions above and if you don't like it get an N80 and enjoy frequent crashes and a slow GUI. Then drive all the way to your Nokia rep to try and get the firmware upgraded (You can't do this yourself) when they fix the issues in 6 months time. Alternatively wait in the comfort of your home patiently waiting for SE to release an update which you can conveniently download and install in your own home. Good eh?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QUIT WHINGING AND WHINING. Get a life and use your phone and don't let minor issues affect your whole life. There is a big wide world out there apart from your phone
END. |

No I don't work for SE nor Nokia nor any phone manufacture but I do know that the constant complaining about something will not get it fixed any sooner. How about you writing micro-code and let's see you produce a flawless product. It is easy to complain about something when you are not under the gun. Yes, the k800i has bugs. I think we established this in the first or second post, but the constant crying and complaining is now beyond annoying. I want my phone flashed but SE has not released an update so I have two choices: to wait for it or to bi$%ch and moan about it not being there. Regardless of either course of action I still have to wait on SE. There are plenty others here in the same boat but you do not see them complaining as they know there is nothing they can do other than send SE a note or write their bug reports here. Second my comments are directed at a select few that seem to whine and moan the most. Go back and read the thread and you will see their names.

Game, set, match: chrisnewman!
Anyway, enough flames. I think the point has been made. SE, just like Nokia, Samsung, etc.... released a phone with guess what: BUGS!! They all do it. All of them and up to a few or so ago only SE allowed you to download the upgrades to their phones. Second, the same people that are complaining about bugs will be the first in line to complain that SE released a crappy upgrade. Why didn't SE test it more. SE screwed us will be their rallying cry. Sad to see supposedly grown ups acting this way about a phone. Some people need to get out more. Talk to a woman or a man, try to go on a date, try life without the phone for an hour or two.

Maydont use my phone to its full potential , iuse wap text and call, no radio not even unpacked the headset and i have not noticed any bugs. The reason they dont get released straight away is because they generally dont affect the avearge user. |

One bug that I cannot find listed here for R1CB001 is about the notes application. It cannot handle more than 6 notes correctly. If a 7:th note is inserted, it's not shown in the list of notes. Instead, the 6:th note is displayed twice. If I delete one of those entries, both disappears, and the previously missing 7:th note magically reappears again.

| True for me too, and I use a lot of the features in the phone. Guess what, very few bugs.
And to the people who complain about the phone companies release phones with a few bugs in them: If they wanted it to be bug-free, the K750 would probably be released about now and we would be way behind. Also, me and a lot of other people want something new as fast as possible and don't care about a few trivial bugs. Besides, some bugs are very hard to find without releasing it first since it may affect only a small number of people. |

Great post Blunden and right on the mark. Creating software to run today's new phones is not easy, and will result in bugs. The difference is that some people do nothing but look for bugs and then complain about them or they try the same procedure over and over until a bug appears and then complain about it.

It is probably not your phone. It is your network provider.

seriously... these last posts is making me laugh... if only you guys were seen on TV.. you prolly replace three stooges... dont get me wrong but the discussion is a reality indeed...
people whine with small bugs... and make a big thing out of it... and tells the whole world how bad the product is... BAD! very bad! its very UNFAIR!
someone sez that as long as you can make calls, send an SMS, retrieve them properly, then your phone is functioning, which is true... then these camera, FM radio, media player are just but add ons to that device.... which make it more versatile in some point... well as long as you can use these features properly its quite good then.. right?
but whats best is... even these extra features crack up sumtimes... throws you tantrums... hey! does your PC dont throw tantrums at you sometime? its just but normal for devices such as these... as ive said whats the best part is that you can wait for the company to release updates for these later known minor shmoes in order for you not to throw tantrums at them. And you can do these things at the comfort of your own home. youll never have to drive miles away to the nearest service center.
so minus the hanky panky.... GUYS! have done everything to satisfy their customers for the past year... dont yak! just wait!
so for conversation's sake! if you really had enuff of your K800. REPLACE IT! if itll bring comfort in your heart! for cryin out loud get a replacement! not another phone please! so that you will not end up yaking back at this forum! sheeesh!
