70mb is free, which is plenty of memory for around 50 photos, and some mp3 tracks.... or 100 photos and no mp3 tracks..

i've only bought a memory card, because it fitted in with my budget....

Good grief £50 for a 512 card, that's a bit steep isn't it - where was that?

£50 for a 512MB M2!! You've been ripped off mate. On Ebay the 1GB are going for no more than £40. That includes delivery for most, and are shipped from the UK.

So my 3 branded k800i arrived today and I can confirm that the branding is absolutely hideous. So I'll keep the O2 one which is on its way. So DHL doesnt deliver on saturday? Because the tracking shows that the parcel is at O2 customer's depot!

Yeah, I ordered from W2W but they are out of stock. So I cancelled that order and got one from ebay for £39.99 including delivery.

yes yes.. i've been ripped off

i know its expensive, but i couldn't resist.. and it saves me waiting for a card to come through on ebay... i bought it in an o2 retail store.. they gave me the phone free, (i should have been charged £50 for my upgrade)..

i buy one on ebay, and take that 512 back for a refund, unopened... i just needed a card there and then...

the internal memory is way too less...if someone is gonna listen to mp3's i certianly dont think 70 mb would b enough...last time i went on vacation and i had k750 wid me and at the end i had to start deletin photos and thinkin twice before every photo cuz i was runnin out of memory ..so if someone's a heavy user i dont think they can live wid 70 mb

To be honest, you have of answered your own question really - "if someone is going to listen to mp3s". I think that's the crux. If you want to use it as an mp3 player you have the opportunity to purchase a memory card. Functioning as a camera phone it really doesn't come with much less memory than most of the digital cameras do on board these days.

My Sony T9 digi camera came with an embarrassing amount of memory and I had to purchase a card but by Sony not including a token gesture card it meant I could get one that served my needs exactly. Also, Sony need to say they have sold X number of M2 in order to prove a point to industry.

64mb will save you about 80 high res pictures, twice more than a throw away camera. And there is the option to blogger or email them to say, gmail for storage.

I think it is horses for courses really.

If you buy a 512MB card with the phone on a new contract then the memory card is £24. Cheaper then most Ebay prices.
