Peter is my husband
As for the phones, I don't really have a dream phone, I like those I'm using atm. Most people here get a new phone with a new contract, so they're not interested in buying "old" phones, especially non-smartphones, when we'd sell our SE K750i, W800i etc, we wouldn't get much money for them, certainly not enough, to buy a new smartphone.

Oops... Sorry.
May be you are right about phones. But here in India, the working class still prefers non-smart phones just to make and receive calls only. Even no texting. But young generation are going for smartphones only. But still their first phone would be simple colour phones like nokia, samsung with cheaper range with touchscreen.
So today also you are doing night shift. How is night? Quite?

Yes, it has been a quiet night, which is always good in a hospital.
As for the smartphone thing, it's a bit of a hype here tbh , young people want one because, friends or schoolmates have one and when they have it, they basically do the same things with it, as they'd do with a non-smartphone (according to a survey from a large phone retailer): calling, texting, internet, email, taking pics and listening to music. K750i and W800i did all this, only the screens were too small. SE's Walkman phones were very good for music and K850i's and C905i's camera with Xenon flash is still better than the cam in most smartphones.
So young people, which are still going to school, without a job, don't really need a smartphone, but they think they do
The sad thing is: even when those kids have a job, a newspaper round or working on Saturdays in a supermarket doesn't pay enough for going out, buying expensive "brand" clothes and expensive phones, so these youngsters sometimes are already having depts of several thousands of Euros, when they're 16 or 17 years old.

I totally agree with you. They are buying because their friends have it. Showing off. But still i dont understand why there is a tag of smartphone while simple phone can also do the same, calling, texting, internet, pics, music, videos. Smartphone has only facebook inside app which is not available for simple phone. So i would call it social networking phones not smart phones. If i dont know more or wrong about smartphones, pls correct me.

I know this better. When i was doing job, and when i had night shift in slack time when all machines were stopped, me and few helping workers were allotted night shift. The whole week was like a holidays. I use to do my other work during days and at night went to plant and sleep. Beautiful days from my past.

Indeed most smartphones are now used for social networking only, as they have apps for that, but when you don't have an app, you can use the browser and go to the internet site and use the service aswell, but with an app it's easier, of course.
Earlier smartphones were used for work, not for fun, people used Office and Exchange services, it was the time of Symbian and Windows Mobile, and even today, an old Windows Mobile (up until version 6.5) or Symbian phone does these things better than some of the newer smartphones.

But how many of us need office software in phone? Thats a question to be ask to all smartphone owner. I am also craving for mini pro. But not for social networking app, for speed, power and performance. I am fed up of my K850i because it is too laggy. It has just been crashed while typing this little while ago.

My husband needs Microsoft Office applications on his phone, for his work, I don't, but I like to use them.
Compared to the K850i, new smartphones like the Mini Pro are faster, they have larger and better screens (unfortunately worse battery life, due to these screens), faster internet, so they're better for video, and overall they're just more pleasant to use, I especially like the ones with a "real" qwerty keyboard. Newer phones also have WiFi, which is very useful, a few years ago, hardly any phone had this option.
But I guess, a new high-end non-smartphone would have a lot of these things too, they just don't make high-end feature phones anymore, only cheap ones.
Sony will not even have any new feature phones in their 2012-portfolio, only smartphones, as they've announced.
So today it's tranced's big day, I hope he's not too nervous (my husband almost dropped the ring )

As the trend is shifting now it is more difficult to find simple phones. Only nokia and samsung is releasing that but that too in limited countries like mine. Is samsung champ being sell in netherland?
Just finished my lunch.

Samsung Champ ? The name doesn't ring a bell, but maybe it has another name here, as there are several cheap, simple Samsungs still being sold here, clamshell and bar models, plus some LG's and also the Nokia 1200- and 1600-series. Also Alcatel is doing very well here in this category, they sometimes are as cheap as 10 or 15 euros with Pay-and-Go (prepaid) credit, and they're remarkably good value for money ! Especially the elderly and people not interested in using phones for more than calling and texting buy them.
I've finished my nightshift now, did an hour longer, a colleague asked if she could come later, because her mother was not feeling well.
So I can now go home and try to get some sleep, bit difficult, when the sun is shining
It's been nice chatting to you, bye!

Why I wanted a "smartphone" ?
Two things, being able to browse more sites and I wanted to write large texts on it for private use an maybe publish later. I tell little bedtime stories and wanted to write them down for some time.
I did consider to keep Aino and buy a small laptop but I like to have it all in one device.
Is everyone having Cake today to celebrate Tranced & Jay
