Totally off-topic, I hope the Proteas produce a better performance in the test arena tomorrow at Kingsmead, compared to how they battled against Clark et al on that mo'fo wicket last week. |

Yhu, mhlekazi...I occasionally use Word and/ or the jotter on the P900 for planning work-related activities that come to mind when I'm away from either home or work PC's, as well as the jotter. Nothing too fancy or mind-blowing, I guess.
I use the P900 far more for non-work related things, again when I away from any PC. Then the phone really earns its keep, with all the texting with the stylus, internet browsing, etc.
I'm still keen to teach the Poms the mother of all isiXhosa tongue-twisters, not that I've completely mastered it myself, particularly after a few Budweisers:
Iqaqa laqabaleka iqhini latyibalika laqhawula uqhoqhoqho!

Nice hearing about the HSDPA implementation, although i'd imagine those handsets would be horrendously expensive upon launch.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the ol' 3510i gamely soldiers on, despite being used by a nephew these days who's a Mxit addict.
Heard via the grapevine that a Cape Town hacker had unleashed a virus on Mxit, causing the system to hang. Seems they traced the dude and arrested him. My source mentioned speaking to one of the guys involved in the trace, and when he asked how they managed to acquire info off somebody's phone without being physically present he was treated to a little demo. His phone rang, and the caller id showed it to be a friend of his, who happened to be standing next to him (i personally know these guys, both of em work at the local cellshop i sometimes speak of). The upshot is that they not only read all the data on his phone, but also picked up on who was close to him, then called him from that particular number, using his colleagues airtime as well....

Guys, I'm feeling nauseous...been staring at my PC monitor the whole day and I still have to go a party this evening.
@786KBR: Pity there's no Vodaworld in Slaapstad, would've liked to check some of the offers.
This weekend I ain't buying nada, just paying off an inflated credit card bill...eBay is addictive like crack...Stay off that site, it's poisonous to your financial health.

Yeah, I've bought close to 80 things off eBay over the past 2+ years, and it can be so darn addictive. I'm actually quite amazed that I've managed to limit myself pretty well over the past few months.
@ da brixsta,
Wanna make yourself more nauseous? Check the UK eBay site and see what prices 2nd hand cars go for here, compared to SA. Unfortunately, the SA govt makes it virtually uneconomical to ship cars to SA from here...I'd be a very rich man if there wasn't so many charges and red tape.
All to 'protect' the local car assembly plants/factory work in SA apparently...yeah right, more like the multi-billion Rand automotive industry maintaining some form of monopoly/ stranglehold on SA car consumers!
Any money under the table, SA automotive industry?

Hopefully Vodacom will lower their data rates or else they can do away with all the nonsense and charge users a flat rate with perhaps a cap for those of us who often abuse the generosity of money-hungry corporates.
Some news from the Y'ello guys...they've been awfully quiet of late. News also coming from MTN is that their HSDPA network went live this past Wednesday.
By Rebecca Harrison
JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - Africa's biggest cell phone firm MTN posted nine-month adjusted headline earnings per share of 338.2 cents, as forecast, thanks to subscriber growth and acquisitions, it said on Thursday.
The South African company is changing its year-end to December 31 from end-March so did not give a comparable year-ago number, but the latest figure was in the company's forecast range of 328 to 345 cents. For the 12 months to end-March 2005, MTN posted adjusted headline earnings per share of 366 cents.
MTN said it expected a further increase in subscribers in South Africa to 12.3 million by the end of 2006, a rise in Nigerian to 11.8 million and a further 1.5 million from its new Iran business, set for launching in August.
Now the question remains, will Iranian subscribers get porn on their phones?

@ da brixsta,
Glad to hear you're feeling better today.
Used the P900's browser extensively today (while spending 2 hours at the mortgage advisor) to follow the cricket score and other sport highlights, such as The Royals' (Reading) promotion to the English Premiership this afternoon.
Daylight saving ends here tonight with the advent of Spring and Summer, so we've all got to advance our watches, clocks etc. by 1 hour tonight.
Fortunately the PC's do this automatically at 12am. |

Gee, there's more going down in my left nostril than 'round here over the past few days.
Let's keep this forum ticking over.
The W810 becomes available here within the next 5 days from O2,
http://shop.o2.co.uk/student/[....]prodID=consumer:SE:W810i:GROUP , as has been mentioned in other threads.
Not sure if you guys have been following all the hype about T-Mobile's ultra-competitive new contract tariffs.
The FlexT 35 tariff gives you £180-worth (approx R2000-worth) of either calls, texts or whatever for £26.25 (approx R300) a month if bought directly from T-Mobile.
(Or £35 through anyone else. This is not necessarily a bad thing; many of these 'deals' have impressive redemption/ cash-back offers at various intervals over the contract period.)
In a nutshell, you can get 900 minutes any-time, any-network for approximately R300!
The only catch? This rate is only available if you take out an 18 month contract instead of the usual 1 year contract.
