8500 is much better. Should be very close to exynos |

Both, cpus are pretty outdated.Dual-core kraits are on their way, while there is already(!!) a phone using a9500 from st-ericsson,which actually provides a gpu performance bump of 20%,when compared to u8500.Since they bothered making a phone using st-ericsson platform, why didnt they shoot for u9500 or u9540,since those are much better(cpu wise, and most probably gpu wise too),than the dual core scorpion used on nozomi? To a point,i understand obsession with qualcomm, since they wanted to deliver faster updates and they needed a common platform, but since we are talking about dual-core here, they could make a start and move to st-ericsson solutions only.Last but not least,Since the whole "apologizing" thing(lol, srsly dude?) was reffering to me,as i was the one to doubt aurelius post, like i said on a previous post of mine i was reffering to Nozomi and not Nypon. |

Don't need an apology at all! It's a rumour thread so....you know. Can't please everyone

I was joking of course 'cause I prefer reading some news/rumors in this treat instead of complaining that someone don`t like some rumors. |

9500 also uses a higher clocked malli 400 mp1.Still both 8500 and 9500 cant hold a candle next to exynos 4210,let alone 4212 or 5250,since 4210 and 4212 use malli 400 mp4. |

U8500 is NOT a CPU, it's a platform (SoC). Both U8500 and A9500 supports the same clock speeds but A9500 can go slightly higher. There are other things that set these platforms apart than CPU/GPU.
btw; They both run Mali400 as GPU.
Yes, A9500 is clocked @1,2GHz, and U8500's processor is clocked @1GHz
Both uses Mali400 GPU but A9500 has slightly better performance thanks to developed NEON extension.

Again,i want to use st-ericsson platforms,just not the outdated ones.Htc sensation z710t,scored 1845 on quadrant,and 50fps on neocore,so that's not the best results out there,when ti omap/tegra 2 scores around 2700-3000. |

Wow. with all of this processor talk going on here I ask myself, is it really that important? I mean, as long as it runs zippy, I'm happy.
I'd much rather have the camera sensor discussions we used to have a year or two ago.

I don't care about those benchmark thing as long as the manufacturer provide me a smoothy crisp of user experience.
btw, if 2012 portfolio have something nicer & alternative than Qualcomm S3 that's what I want to hear, even in slightly outdated hardware.
won't have any chance in Qualcomm S4, HTC has stolen the light as always.
Neocore is developed by Qualcomm itself, I don't wonder why Mali400 can't do well in this segment. These day, I preferred AnTuTu as prime candidate tester.
HTC has a good software of Sense experience but I don't think that they are good hardware tuner, European company like Nokia and Ericsson has much better on this!

+1
I also wish I had some idea of what they're talking about - my knowledge finishes at single/dualcore

Update: if you’re wondering about the ‘Xperia’ chin at the bottom of the phone, this is believed to be a removable cap which can be interchanged for different colours. As always, take these rumours with a pinch of salt.
If it is removable I think it will look better without it ...
and pity this cap is not used as an external xenon flash like this ...

Sony Ericsson makes Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream sandwich ‘alpha ROM’ available [Video]
This is amazing. Sony Ericsson is making available its own alpha ROM of the Xperia Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update to the public. This is the first time that we know that a manufacturer has openly given access to a pre-release ROM.
The alpha ROM will only work on three Xperia phones: arc S, neo V and ray. For those Xperia arc and Xperia neo users wondering whether they should try this, you are warned not to as the phones have different partition layouts compared to the arc S and neo V.

This is great! I should take my bike to the dev team in Lund and tell them how awesome they are!

ICS looks great so far. but i'm a little sad that they removed the standard ICS lock screen and replaced it with the slide...
looks quick and snappy though... makes my x10 look dreadfully slow..
