The next flagship will always be better than the previous one. The only question is by how much...

No cause for concern. Just because the RX isn't the flagship doesn't mean the One Sony phone can't use the same camera tech.

I'm hoping he'll clarify some details for us though.

If 2H flagship uses the same camera tech then what would be the point of the RX in the first place? I can buy that it uses the same Bionz software but the same sensor? Unlikely, the 2H flagship will need to be thin and light because it serves a different type of consumer compared to a camera focused phone

There's no way it comes close to the RX100 imo. But using an adaptation of the tech used in the RX100 for a phone will help improve camera quality by a lot imo.

Just FYI guys, thought larger sensors in general means better quality duo to larger pixel size ( = less noise ), but larger the sensor, the thicker the device must be... duo to larger focal length. if you don't want it to be thick then you have to add a telescopic lens like in most point and shoot camera's as they are slimmer than the required focal length for the sensor, so they adds a telescopic lens that opens when turned on to get the required focal length...

See the Pureview large sensor required it to be thick, at least in the sensor area...

With proper processing it's possible for a 1/2" sensor to beat even the larger 1/1.2" of the 808 in image quality, we've seen that on digital cameras like the M43 equipped OMD E-M5 mirrorless from olympus by which the sensor was made by Sony, bravely clashing with APS-Cs like the NEX lineups and even entry level Canon EOS DSLRs in high ISO performance. but what gives me doubts was not the Sony hardware, but the software itself. Sony is infamous for their inferior JPEG processing (even in DSLRs) and even with better light sensitivity, I'm not sure it'll beat 808 pureview. I'd personally prefer a larger sensor, as it gives us shallower depth of field which is perfect for portraits and macro. and I'd personally be happier if Sony decided to put android on an RX100 body to compete with the galaxy camera while retaining most of the features including the sensor size and that high quality F1.8 Zeiss T* lens. IMHO Slim phones are overrated, especially if people would end up enclosing their slim phones on 3rd party jelly case or jacket, defeating the point of its slimness

But there's a limit to thickness too when you want something to be pocketable. The PureView 808 imo is a bit to thick.

The 808 is pocketable, but I wouldn't want the Xperia RX to be that thick.

Anyway, I found this.

Update on DOGO

Dogo is the combination device of the Z and ZL. It will be one of the H2 flagships.
SPECS
5" full HD display
Snapdragon 800
16MP camera.
2GB RAM
Smaller than ZL

The other H2 phone is considered a camera phone and not a flagship but it will cost more than the flagship because of the camera features. This phone will be very similar to the Cyber-Shot phones and it will be more focused on the camera side of the phone rather than being a flagship. It will also be on the thick side because of the larger camera sensor.

Noooooooooooo.
Okay I will not wait any longer for a new device. Z was under my expectations, and Dogo sounded perfect to me. And now it will come in H2 and will be too large:( Nexus 4 I'm coming.

I heard that there will be an announcement on the 15th of March but I am not 100% sure.

Does this mean Dogo will not have the awful imo back of ZL? As long as the camera is an improvement over the Z/ZL I'm happy with that. Dogo seems to be the first phone from Sony that will not lack in specs compared to other manufacturers flagships. As long as the display is at HTC level and they bump up the battery to something closer to 3000mAh then I don't think there's anything to complain about. On the software side of things I'm okay Sony's skin but I would've liked them to remove the home screen animation and widen the multitasking grid like it is in stock Android...
