Hans, are you renewing your contract online or in a shop ? In the Lumia 800 thread on tweakers.net they're saying now, that the black one will be available first and the cyan version, which seems to be very popular, comes later, around 28 nov.: http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1478024/last

I haven't decided yet where to get it. For now I still want cyan and if that takes 10 more days, no problem. I had to wait an extra month for my white Aino.
I think Tweakers is a messy forum. I can find what I need but everytime it takes a while to get to the subject.

Hans, best of luck with your choice friend.
Just give you an idea how calls are cheaper in India. My monthly talktime is around 5.30 hrs. And guess how much i am paying for that... around Rs. 90 (around 1 pound) with Rs.80 extra for my every call to be charged half rate for once in every 3 months. and i am paying around same price Rs.95 for 4 gb data in one month. Though from last month, i have recharged with higher data plan i.e. Rs. 249 around 3 GBP and got 15 gb data for 3 months. Though it is not 3g data but i am getting enough speed for my mobile and on my pc for surfing. For downloading, i have to keep patience. I think i am an average users, not too high or not too low. But due to insufficient knowledge of reducing call rates, people here also paying Rs.500-1000 per month. So in this scenario, who want to pay higher everymonth and get high end mobile where as almost every second person here is using basic cheap phone for making and receiving calls only. NO INTERNET at all. I think thats why they are not introducing contract system here.
Hans, suppose in middle of a contract, you are fed up with your operator with its service or any other reason, would you be able to change your provider without changing your number??? what about contract then??? Keeping in mind, your number is business number and you cannot afford to stop it otherwise you would loose valuable clients.

Ceaser you would have to buy yourself out of the contract. How ever many remaining months there is remaining on the agreed contract you would have to pay it all up front in order to get out of it. Not sure if you can keep your number that way though.

Yes, if I would buy out I could keep my number.
Like Bono said you would have to pay all remaining terms at once. Example: 2 year contract of 30 a month. After 14 months I want to change provider. I'll have to pay; 10 times 30 = 300 and i'm free.

I once went to court with Vodafone many many years ago in Birmingham. It was a dispute regarding unfair charges on my bill in the small claims court. I was the one who stood against them in court. And a very high official said to me there that many many mobile phone contracts do not stand up well in courts & are not worth the paper they are written on. One said the price you pay for £30 per month for 2 years actually comes to much much more than the cost of the device you get.

I calculate it like this, what are the costs of what I really use, plus the value of the phone. A contract could save 25%

My contract @ £30 per month for 2 years comes to £720. The cost of the phone is around £500 though can be bought for cheaper now. Am I a mug?? Yep.
