to me it seems as if the prototypes with the faster hardware still haven't arrived at the testers.
so could this mean some sort of "delay"? new hardware = new tests = new possible bugs.
but of course its a good decision if their UI didn't work probably with the old hardware
First of all, we don't know that the new hardware has not arrived at the testers. There is every possibility that they just can not talk about it for legal reasons. Also, its quite possible that they have different testers for different aspects of development, some specialize at earlier stage protos and some for the nearly final versions.
I don't think we have enough info at this time to jump to any conclusions about release dates or delays. |

Nobody know the release date for Vulcan. On the other side Rachael imo is preety close to be annonced. The device is working pretty good and no changes in hardware are planned.... |

u know it's working good?
have we had testers say that?
all we've seen is a "rumored" UI video... and it wasn't even ON THE DEVICE...
i HOPE it's working GREAT! and they release tmr...
just haven't heard anything about the rachael working at all |

hey i'm just trying to analyze the situation
someone already leaked Vulcan shots some months ago, that device also had the lower spec hardware.
and in the software buisness it doesn't really make much sense to hand older hardware versions to developers.
changing important parts of the hardware is always a large step - even in the early development phase

if you test on the same architecture but at a lower clock rate and your software is burning along, when you upgrade the hardware to meet spec, it should in theory (all things being equal (HUGE ASSUMPT!ON)) be faster, and with an upgraded chip that is more efficient you optimize for the less efficient chip so the net gain on batt life is significant.
its like typing a 10 page paper single space at 8pt font, you get to 3 or 4 pages, youre done. double space and increase to 12pt. its a way of lowering the common denominator. i understand it, ive just never seen it before.
the way SE is losing money, it should come as no surprise that they are using the internet to do the walkin and talkin for them ... according to mizz though the leak wasnt planned, but it couldnt have worked out better in SE's favor. i hope they take note.

I wasn't saying you were wrong, just that there were other factors to consider. There are arguments to be made for both sides, but the point I was trying to make was not to get too disappointed in anything that's out there now. I'm sure there will be plenty to be disappointed about when the official announcement is made, but it will probably be something we weren't considering yet. |

Guys I used to work at SE. Whenever a new device is developed, the hardware being used by the developers in the beginning is never the final hardware.
For example: I was onboard when Shiho (and Alicia ) (C905 was under development). That platform started on something called a "wingboard" which is basically a huge circuit board containing the mobile chipset, keypad buttons, speaker, lcd, maybe a camera. This is primarily used for platform bring up and low-level verification. Doesn't look anything like a phone. Once the prototype phone hardware arrives, it may have a crippled processor, half the RAM, lower spec'd camera, etc (DPX prototypes) with the X being numbers. As development progresses, the phone gets all its final hardware (SPX prototypes). During this time however, the software engineers are still progressing with their progress across all these hardware revisions.
So it's definately plausible that Vulcan starts off with older more mature hardware, but once the final hardware platform becomes more stable, they begin using those devices for development and verification.

The guy who leaked these images at XDA says that he can't turn on the X2 because that would reveal the final build of the OS and the final hardware specs. There's your answer. |

They should atleast announce the X2 before the market is crowded by a horde of WM phones. his will keep the interest up.Doesnt matter when they release it as long as racheal is released at an earlier date. |

i agree! nothing would be worse than to wait and wait and wait for this phone only to see it fail because there are other things that have peoples interest b/c SE waited to long.. i'm still prayin this phone'll be out b4 xmas time!

The longer the wait the longer the hype. The longer the hype the more its wanted. The more its wanted the more it will sell. Be patient. |

Yeah but if it's TOO long then the hype would also have died out! These people also have logic behind their impatience, se_love.

The hype dies out considerably when other companies announce something better afterwards, but still manage to release it before SE.
