@ Tahir,
Just to correct one of your earlier posts:
"...Sharp phones are for Vodafone only.."(10/3/05)
Sharp are NOT only for Vodafone; one of the other mobile network giants abroad, T-Mobile, also use (different) Sharp phones. See http://www.gsmarena.com/sharp-phones-23.php
Fair enough, most Sharp phones appear to be with Vodafone, but not all.
I am impressed with Vodacom's plans. Is there any threat of Vodacom being taken over completely by the Vodafone giant? Just asking, because their phone call pricing (not referring to 3g services, although I realise much of the current discussion is about these...) here in the UK is THE most expensive out of all the networks. Check out UK network tariff guides on the net as proof. |

Wudnt bother me,as i use 99% of my private mobile use on data services. Vodacom is only 35% vodafone tho.

I did not say SHARP PHONES ARE FOR VODAFONE ONLY.All i said was the Sharp 902 is the only 3G 2megapixel.There is no plans for VODAFONE to buy VODACOM but VODAFONE WANTS TO INCREASE IT SHARE IN VODACOM.Visit www.busrep.co.za for more info.I would like VODAFONE TO BUY VODACOM COMPLETLY but i dont think that will happen.VODAFONE call rates might be more in UK but they are the leaders in the world.One in 3 people on this planet is connected to VODAFONE.They have more roaming partners than anyone + allways the 1st with everything just like Vodacom.None of the UK operators have a huge content like Vodafone Live.In SA Vodacom subs on lower end contracts are not as cheap as its competitors but its SA leading cell net with the lowest churn(customer moving from Voda to other net).Why.Vodacom service is the best,we give you 2year warranty on your handset,our distribution is bigger than anyone.Vodacom has 60% market share in SA.

Hope Vodafone never takes over Vodacom... It might look good on the service but SA subs will have to put up with a lot of nonsense like branded handsets. It also doesn't mean charges will be cheaper...we might get more services but that's about it. What I'd like to see is maybe two more networks...give me choice and with number portability it shouldn't be a big problem changing network.

Vodacom did a survey last year and it was about telecommunication.They said SA had the potential of having 12 operators(fixed/mobile) and everyone will have a fair share.Most of us here must of heard of Cell C cutting 90 jobs but you never hear this from Vodacom & MTN.Richard Branson wants to become Cell C super dealer.Branson will use Cell C but it will be branded Virgin Mobile.All Virgin customers will have 084 numbers.I think Cell C rather cell their network to Virgin because in the last year Cell C customer base did not grow especialy it prepaid base.Cell C has 3mill customers,2mill prepaid 1mill contracts.Cel l C has the highest churn in the country and they did not increase their distribution since interception.For starters they dont even have their own repair centres.

I think 12 operators is perhaps pushing it...five would be ok but I can't see too many international networks licking their lips at the prospect of entering this market due the licencing debacle we had with Cell C and the problems govt had licencing the SNO...best believe that pigs will take flight before a call is ever made on the SNO.

@Tahir,
read these last 6 words quoted from your post carefully. I did not mis-quote you or take your sentence out of context.
I merely replied to what you have stated, using facts. |

I used SHARP phones and all i can say is if you love SonyEricsson phones,you will love them.The menus are like SonyEricsson.I used customers phones and they told me they are happy with them.We have to wait when Vodacom brings SHARP phones in SA which will be very soon.

Does Vodacom have download restrictions? Whenever I try downloading something over 400kb I get a message saying "the requested page is currently not available" but the other day my colleague at work downloaded "Doom" for his 6600, a file in excess of 1Mb without any problems.
