Just updated my S700i on SEUS and got R3K. This is my first day with my S700i so not sure what is changed. Don't think it is as good as the latest K700i firmware though and no MS Duo Pro support.
Love this phone though! |

Ok, once again the SEUS made my phone's firmware corrupt. It happened on my K700i and did the same with my S700i. After using it I could not receive text messages because it was telling me I had too many (I didn't have any). I know this bug exists on K700 but now I also know you can get this as a result of using SEUS.
Thank you once again MultiServer for just working like it should. |

I purchased an s700i via eBay a few days ago. It came with 3 different languages, one of which was Greek. It had an older firmware so I decided to upgrade it via SEUS but I got a message saying my operator would not allow it (??!?!?). My phone is unlocked and I believe it is unbranded too (but how can i be sure?). I found news on davinciteam.com on the net and decided to give them a try.
I upgraded the firmware on my s700i to the following:
R3K004
prgCXC 125935_EU_1_T
LCD SW versions
Main display
Current: 200211260
Camera SW versions
Camera
Current: 1.0
ITP SW version
CXC 125 942 R2A
Customization
CDA 102286/8 R2A
cxc 125941 1E0W
US_1
I tried to run SEUS again and got the same exact message. I later on found out that SEUS checks your CDA number and noticed that the new video manual on davinciteam.com actually shows the user changing the CDA numbers prior to flashing. Apparently if you change the CDA number to a "generic" one, then SEUS will be able to update your phone.
My questions:
1) Will changing the CDA number make SEUS work?
2) If yes, what numbers shall I use for a phone used in the US?
3) Any risks in changing the CDA?
4) What is the latest Unbranded US s700i firmware? It is unclear in the initial post of this thread. I upgraded to R3K004 but Krubach has a new one apparently.
5) Why don't the web based upgraders tell you what versions they have? I have to buy a credit before I know their latest version?? |

Whilst some people believe changing the CDA will allow a disallowed handset to use the SEUS, I disagree based on personal experience. I believe that the SEUS blocks handsets based on the IMEI, so if an IMEI is blocked (for network-branding reasons) then there is no way around it. The CDA only comes into play if the phone is allowed to use the service in the first place. It tells the SEUS which firmware to download, but as I say, the phone needs to be allowed first.
That said, there's no risk in changing the CDA. It'll cost you another credit, but if you want to give it a try, you've got absolutely nothing to lose.
In DaVinci, change the details to:
CDA Number: CDA102300/21
CDA Revision: R1A
Model: S700i
Language Variant Name: US_1
I hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

The latest firmware for most unlockers is R3M which is a good improvement over R3K. I strongly advise against using the SEUS as it is not stable. |

Asked SE about the possibility of MS Duo Pro support in the s700i through firmware update (as in the p905) and this is the response:
"With regards to your enquiry, there will not be a firmware update for the Sony Ericsson S700i to enable Memory Stick Pro Duo support. Pro Duo support is also down to hardware capabilities of the handset, and the phone does not have this hardware.
There is no such handset as the P905. You are perhaps referring to the P910i, which has Memory Stick Pro Duo support. This handset has the hardware required to do this, as well as the software."
I was sure there is a p905 and it got MS Duo Pro support through a firmware update, or was I wrong?

@dc..as far as is concerned, the p905 does not officially exist...p905 is a p900 unofficially flashed with the p910 firmware...which enables a p900 to support ms duo pro...

Ah, thanks for clearing that one up.
So this must mean that the p900 has the hardware for MS Duo Pro but was limited by firmware, whereas the S700i just doesn't have the hardware. Oh well.
R3M is a great firmware though, much faster than R3K in the menu's and reading from the card, glad I used Multiserver now. |

I haven't noticed any difference. I hoped they allowed us customizing the sms signal with our tones, but it's the same as before.
