U will see imx363 at super wide and 2x zoom in next year’s flagship.
In fact, xiaomi cc9pro is useing it as 2x zoom.
Isocell is trash, samsung copies all the mobile cmos from Sony.
And bring it a better picture quality.
Truth is Korean do much better than Japanese in smartphone

Imx363 is old already. Just another simple 12MP 1/2.55".
Why not 563 , considering it has same specs but much newer?

They want 12 to keep the 10fps AF/AE.
Interesting the fact A7R4 does the same at 61MP with faster AF while using much weaker CPU.
There is no way the current Bionz X has half power of SD865.

There was an article with interviews of various Sony staff around Xperia, and one was an Alpha software guy talking about transferring the Eye AF software to phones and how it was much harder to get it up to speed than on their custom chips in the cameras. Dedicated hardware and software Vs a generic system designed to do more than just capture images.

Fact :
Sony logo on xperia = N units sold
Samsung logo on same device = 100N units sold
J3 sold 23 million units.
Weaker hardware than E5, almost same price.
S4 sold 80 million units.
With midrange SD600, plastic body, yellowish oled, no ip rating and smaller battery.
Not even counting worse era of touchwiz. Too slow ...

What's Samsung got to do with anything apart from paying people to do fake reviews and sneaky shit? Samsung, Apple and Huawei 'invest' in DXO and stuff that helps them, Sony supplies Huawei with sensors that top those types of chart but their devices are terrible. Wake up guys, it's a dirty business.
Sony Mobile has been terribly managed, consistently cutting corners but they're no shit company. Their camera, audio, gaming and TV products are some of the best and their phones have a quality about them despite some stupid decisions. Quality does not equal sales today, there's a lot of other factors to consider.

Samsung Mobile belongs to group 2.
Samsung and Sony are selling those very high MP because they know chinese brands would be 🤩.
108MP 1/1.33" has same pixel density of FF with more than 300MP.

I can't understand why hate and try to diminish Samsung. No matter how blame Samsung, it doesn't change. Sony fail to survive, but Samsung did.
Samsung build great phones, put lots of money for R&D, they know importance of marketing.
We should accept Xperia is lack of competition. Both on hardware itself and marketing.
we have to see why most people choose Galaxy over other android phones.
Europe was Sony's foreground. But now, newcomers like Huawei, OnePlus, even HMD takes market share.

@rubik_cat - why should sony continue to support software/apps for features that are standard on android now? night light and digital wellbeing are part of android and no longer need a separate app.
samsung has a lot more money to put into R&D because it's simply that much bigger of a company. not only that, they are also backed by the south korean government. can't bash them for it. it's just the fact.
sony on the other hand have great things going for them but also bad. they could be doing a lot better in mobile but a lot of bad decisions lead them to where they are now. poor management, lack of marketing? there is probably no single cause but many.
sony is still the leader in image sensors and if they can utilize them and their camera tech in new xperia phones, it will be successful with their target market of creators and professionals. sony isn't targeting the mass market.
they should take the xperia 1, improve the camera hardware and software, address the big complaints people are having, and send out a beast phone that will lead the way for creators and film/video/photo professionals.
we'll see what they do. i hope they do improve on the xperia 1. cause that will be my next phone! no more overheating please.

They should be miles ahead of other since they have much more resources.
Most sold flagships are those that cost more (Samsung, Huawei and Apple).
If price were factor, OnePlus would be selling 50 million units per year.

I never said Samsung phones are bad, I'm just saying that they took the opportunity with DXO to help sales as an example while Sony and HMD don't. You can debate the ethics but the fact is that Samsung got many things right while Sony messed up many things year after year.
I'm saying that Sony products aren't bad but they made mistakes and got themselves in this position as opposed to the likes of Samsung and Apple making phones 10x better because they're not. They're not as rich as Samsung because Sony aren't as successful, simple as that. |

Yeah I felt sad for Sony because they came up with many firsts and innovations but with little marketing and advertisements to showcase what their innovations can achieve or outshine competitors. Example the 4k HDR display, 960fps super slow motion and their camera sensors which competitors copied and showcased which made many people believed its their "invention" ... |
