People just love jumping on the anti-anything-succesful bandwagon!

True, but isn't that because Apple sets the bar very high with their marketing of the iPhones? I can't say anything about user experience because I haven't used one. It might sound like people are standing up and jeering at Apple's mistakes not the iPhone 4 because they're very successful. But there has to be criticism expected with a phone like this because the expectations of it are so high; because of both the price and the marketing.

We should look at the phone for its good points and its bad points instead of constantly focusing on one. Then we can make a choice whether its any good for its price

@mriley... sure.. I'm the first to recognise that Apple thrives on hype. Fortunately I recognise that but am willing to allow my previous experiences to allow me to continue using the iPhone... but I'm also sensible enough to know that if I get let down big time I'll be thinking twice about that philosophy... and part of that has surely made me look at the Desire, and android, with open eyes compared to my old favourite of Windows Mobile even though version 7 is coming soon

been there done that. I tried it on the N710 and N810 and gave it a go in the N900 for a solid couple of weeks.
I got the impression that Nokia couldn't decide whether it was a tablet OS or a mobile phone OS but IMHO it didn't work well with either. I guess Nokia feel the same which is maybe why they're moving now to meego! which again will have to mature before it gets general approval.

I am sure the iPhone 4 is still an outstanding phone (maybe the best on the market) but I have too high expectations of a phone like that, I would buy it if it was a perfect phone but it doesn't seem to be. I have read, the phone being a finger print magnet and hard to hold, personally these are the main things that put me off getting one (if I could)
I suppose we can't comment on the signal issues without having used the phone ourselves, it seems to have people saying signal is fine others sayings it bad.
But if it was as bad as they show on the video, should Apple reclaim all iPhones they have sold due to this design flaw?

Im sure MeeGo will mature ok nice to see Nokia hook up with a decent name too,
we can only wait till the end of the year btw before this next handset is un-veiled,

im not sorry to see BB5 dissapear either

@ MRiley you should wait for the white iP4 harder to see fingerprints on that one
my pc is glossy black and it has the finger print issues too

nothing a duster can't solve

I'll tell you that in the first 2 days it did seem that the casing caught every finger print, though none of that impacted on the display as it was totaly invisible once the phone is turned on.

After those initial days the fingerprints seem less now, so maybe thats down to whatever finish the iphone gets at the factory? not sure but thats my observation.

mind you, how many shiny phones these days aren't finger print magnets? its not really important as long as it doesn't impact usage. While the iPhone might be considered by some as an object of beauty, I'm more practical and if such issues don't effect usage I could care less.

I do also admit that initially the '4' felt more difficult to hold safely, but us humans have survived so long because we adapt, and I now feel the device is perfectly safe in my hands actually, this is one of the few reasons I have't gone for the ipad too, because I was worried about dropping it... now I wonder if that really will be an issue....

Going back to the reception issue... lets just wait and see what response Apple take. All the hype yesterday and today said there would be an iOS release today but so far that has just been from the usual rumour-mill.

@missy.. I'll be changing my iP4 for the white asap, not for finger print issues but because its my preference and I don't understand why Apple have not given me the choice from the start as they did last year. (White was also my choice when the SE T650 came out... I just don't like black!)

I recall mentioning in a topic that you were active in (here) that phone insurance is almost always included in home insurance, and in my case it certainly is! I proved that just last week when my daughter dropped her iphone into our garden pond while feeding the fish!

can't see the point in paying £8 (ish) extra a month for something that I'm already paying for!

Good Masseur will like to see how hot those white ones will look for real,
Apple should launch an array of colours

that would be nice for a change

@masseur
I will need to try the iPhone 4 out myself to see how it feels, I guess it depends quite a lot on how big your hands are too

@missy, agreed. a choice of black and white is quite boring actually, but when its the only choice... I choose white.

I'd love a sky blue (to match my eyes ), or a metalic blue much like that found on the original T68i if you can remember that far back

@mriley... go do it! I guess compared with the "mini" versions coming out lately it will probably feel big (though very small at 9.9mm) but Desire is definetly (well, marginally) bigger, but then it also has a fantastic screen and ever since the HP iPaq hx4700 I've come to realise that I'd much rather have a larger device with a large screen, within reason anyway...

I think I will, I just recently used the iPod Touch in one of their stores, but it's a pity you can't pick it up and see how it feels in your hand with no security bolts attached to it, more likely I need to find someone who already owns one who can lend it me for some time to get used to how it feels
