Just updating to new software now...
Is just me or is this thread very quiet lately?
Are there so few iPhone users?
I haven't seen any proof of tomorrow all day!

I think its quiet because there's not much to say.

I'm certainly not having any problems other than the occassional 3g hang where I see full reception but it seems the phone can't get data. after some seconds (up to a couple of minutes somtimes) 3g functionality returns again but it doesn't happen very often.

Apparantly its a known issue to do with the infineon chip and its going to be fixed in a firmware update sometime soon.

they're some great apps appearing on the appshop. apart from shazam and a couple of others I mentioned previously, I really like Koi pond and brain tuner and I've also put visualit's Tube London on there now too, oh, and converter which is one I had in the pre-appshop days which is now available in appshop

Apple Admits iPhone Kill Switch

If I had paid a small fortune to be the owner of an iPhone and discovered that Apple had installed code in the operating system to kill third party applications it disapproved of, I would be around to the Apple HQ to insert saidiPhone into whatever orifice of Steve Jobs' first appeared.

The Daily Telegraph carries the full story but essentially someone has discovered lines of code in the iPhone operating system that acts as a kill switch to neutralise programs Apple doesn't want you to have on your phone. Apple has, unsurprisingly came out with a lot of guff and hot air to defend this, but the Telegraph story may hold the true reason.

The Telegraph story states: "Mr Jobs also announced that in the month since the iPhone 3G was released and the Application Store launched, around 60 million applications had been downloaded for the iPhone and iPod touch. About $30 million (£15 million) in revenue has been generated by the store. Developers keep a 70 per cent slice of this revenue, while Apple take the remaining 30 per cent. Mr Jobs said Apple was on course to make about $360 million this year from the App Store."

Oh yeah my bad. Just a quick question regarding iphone 2g. If I get it unlocked do I have to jailbreak it as well in order to download app store apps from itunes or will I be able to download them without the need for jailbreaking?

Thanks
