I sometimes find that when I enable WLAN, the Scan option is still greyed out. Anyone else get this? If I kill the WLAN screen in Task Manager and go back in it's ok.
I think it may occur if you disable WLAN while it is still scanning - it then sorta remembers that the option was unavailable... anyone else get this?

Well, the FM Radio behaves even worse that I described it in the earlier post, and it seems that is not a bug, but worse ... (
When you store a station on a channel, and you have the AF on, it only searches for a better frequency as long as it receives a good signal level.
But, if you don't receive the station anymore, it doesn't know to search for a better frequency.
Practically: you store a station in area A. When you travel to area B, and select the stored station, it doesn't select the strong area B signal !!! You have to do it manually!!
Another one: you store the freq 92,5, let's say, with RDS [STATION]. When you travel, and meet after 100km a different station on the same freq, it doesn't bother to decode the RDS of the new station; it automatically recognizes it as the old station - completly brainless !!!!
This is a major drawback comapred to the previous models (W800, K800), and I could even say it's a disastruous piece of engineering ...
I guess I'll get rid of P1 because of this. The rest is more than OK (functionality, battery life, etc).

Yeah, that's got to be it. I wondered about that. Go write in the wiki..?

Can anyone confirm what is the functionality of the RDS radio in W960?
I hope not like I described earlier ...
I can't stand the Pi1 radio any longer, and consider a trade ...

RDS ... the FM functionality where digital information is sent with the radio signal, like the radio station name, type of broadcast, alternative frequency, etc
Aren't the W960 and P1 radios the same? |

This is hopefully not a bug, but a question
How do you type the | symbol via keypad or touchscreen keyboard?
I need the symbol to separate numbers in my magic message manager filter.
Searched all day for it, finally thought asking is easier
Cheers

I don't know if this has been mentioned in the 36 pages, but its REALLY REALLY bad that the alarm doesn't work when the phone is in silent |

Yeah. Apparently someone at SE support actually said that since you could manually turn off the sounds for ring- tones and the reminders (in the volume screen), there was nothing to complain about. This was also why profiles wasn't necessary, according to the support dude, since "UIQ is fully customizable".. (Can't find the thread.. I think it was on my-symbian.com somewhere).

Hit the "." a few times, or write a long line upwards (start special characters) and then draw a line downwards next to it.

Thanks guys, got it.
And I totally agree about the problem of the alarm sound being muted when the phone is in silent mode.
Ive missed getting up on time in the morning because of it.

When I try to rename any file using the File Manager the displyed file name have "[1]" appended to it. For example abc wil become abc[1]. Is this normal?
And when I send an email with a large attachment, say 600 kb, it hangs while sending and then I cannot end the Messaging Task in task manager.

If you already have a file with that name, then yes, it is.
Otherwise it's not.

No I don't have a file with the same name.
When I use another file manager like xplore thre's no problem.
I have done a service menu format, a master reset, and updated via seus with GW1. These two problems still exists. Are these bugs or hardware related? |

I have a SE P1i and I can easily connect to the internet thru WLAN. The problem is the connection drops out after the phone is left unattended for 5 minutes despite my timed out setting is set to NEVER and Power Saving is OFF..
My Router is a Belkin Wireless G+ and its settings are:
DHCP: Enabled
Connection Type: Dynamic
Wireless Mode: g+b
Protected Mode: OFF
Security: WPA Personal
Authentication: WPA-PSK
Encryption: TKIP
Channel: 8
Block ICMP Ping: Enabled
NAT: Enabled
Phone Setting is:
Dial Up Timed Out: Never
Preferred Mode: Automatic
Network Mode: Infrastructure
Power Save: Off
RTS Threshold: (256-2347) 2347
Anyone has idea what I'm missing so that I can have a continuous connection even if I'm on stanby mode since sometimes I'm using eBuddy mobile messenger and waiting for a contact to go online... |
