Man this is all confusing and headache.
Correct me if i am wrong.
The updated Dopod does not come with a extended rom which means i need to download the Vodafone 1650 VPA Compact III (UK) Extended Rom (...but i have the v1605 :-S) as i want the phone to be like as i got it but how exactly do i install the Extended Rom after the update is completed.
What happens and what do i have to do after the update is completed?
Someone wrote "Once the update was complete, I didn't let the extended rom run and then unlocked the extended rom. I then coppied it to my card and copied the vodafone extended rom to the device and hard reset again"
In english for begginers would be nice.

My TyTN is a completely unbranded one, unlocked to work on any network, its the HTC version (so kinda branded then lol). I have a 3G O2 sim card in it (contract...O2 Online 1000 off peak)
Ive settled with using the I-Mate ROM (from wiki.xda-devs) and playback through TCPMP is better than on HTC/dopod ROMs but it still doesnt work with the ATI drivers. It will resume no problems from a pause without the stuttering issue.
I settled for the Imate one because after flashing to the dopod version there was no voice dialer!?! its present on the imate rom then i just installed the .cabs from the latest HTC ext_rom.
People doing this to your TyTN is REALLY easy and aslong as you follow the VERY SIMPLE instructions its no sweat. Make sure to backup all your files etc... and have a play! When HTC releases an OFFICIAL updated ROM il be trying it but so far im sold! no screen issues at all (but i had none anyway) and it seems a bit faster.

Well finally someone flashed...woohoo ok il contain myself, now just keep your phone away from that crappy case they give you (possible the magnets are messing with the screen as well) and you should be fine...

Just flashed my voda 1605 with the Dopod one and used the Extented Rom that came with it.
I did try the Vodafone Extended Rom, however, i got the following issues.
Cannot find "Windows\Vodafone.bmp" and i have no backup of it.
I then reverted it back to the Extented Rom that came with it.
The issue i have now are that:
1. I have a 'U' instead of '3G' at the top.
2. I have Calander and Contact on the bottom of the screen. How do i change it to Phone and Contacts
3. How do i change the Phones Skin... I hate it.
4. I have no settings in my ISP so cant connect using GPRS etc.

bbasra,
2) do a search on Xda for softkeyapplet or softkeyappletex. You can use this to change the soft keys to any app you want.
3) The TyTN wiki has some phone skins you can try
4) download the imate JasJam extended rom ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-develop[....]104_1.07.03.10_ExtROM_WWE.rar. It contains operator cabs including Vodaphone UK

1)You will switch between U and G basically the U meaning UMTS so its safe to say HSDPA or 3G no real difference to be honest and it doesnt affect your phone in anyway.
2)I believe someone has posted the solution above
3)download a new one from xda
4)again download that from xda website.
