I don't own an M600, but I think I've read in this thread somewhere that they are actually talking about the "C" key on the keyboard. As in simply the letter "C" on the qwerty area. Hope this helps! (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) |

Since the mediaplayer is a part of the Symbian OS it should not be different on W950. Maybye the feature comes with a firmwareupdate in the future...

The "C" key on the phone...........I have another stupid question as well.
I can't seem to install themes from the SE site. By accident I deleted the themes that came with the phone, but when I go to the WAP site from SE, I have no problems downloading the themes onto my phone. The file says "userdd", but how do I install the theme? If anyone can help that would be great. |

Ok here are my thoughts of the phone which i have been playing with over today...
1. I love some of the features such as flaging when a miss call has happened and setting it to remind you at a later time.
2. Also love how you can send a text when some one is calling you telling them that you are busy (very much like the treo 700)
3. The OS is very very flacky! Very slow and sometimes crashing...have received a few error messages already.
4. Also would have been nice to have some keys next to the m600i logo that can changes functions depending on what text is above it...very much like the K-Jam. It just seems that its not possible to run the phone without touching the screen, which is very annoying (unless I am missing something out)
5. Keypad is a bit fiddily, but i am getting faster thoughout the day, and i am sure with a little practice it will be fine.
All is in, its a great size phone, with lots and lots of bugs that needs to be ironed out (and will be over time, although i dont think its a stable enough phone for SE to release...yes i have the most uptodate OS version), just now sure if i prefer my KJam at the moment, which is a real shame, cause i love SE. |

Lastly, any M600i owners realises the "shadow" effects on your phone? This is much like Windows XP's default eye candy that makes opening up of menus, etc looks nicer, but dramatically slows down you PC actually? Well, this to me, has very negative effects on the M600i. Even with applications already started and runs in the background, a switch between various apps has been slowed down due to this eye candy effects that UIQ 3.0 is trying to show. I really hoped there is a way to stop these effects, like we can in Windows XP...

On my Voda branded handset, under Tools is an option named 'TransSwitch'. When I select this, it turns off the effects I think you're referring to.

I downloaded the themes over WAP and they had the wrong file extension of .thm instead of .utz. Bluetoothed them to my Mac, changed the extension before sending back and hey presto!

Hi, this sounds promising, but sadly it is not available in SIM free M600i. I am on R1B01 firmware and confirms it does not come with this option either.
I am attaching a pic which I just took to show how bad tne M600i is when comes to memory management. As usual, I had those built in apps running and then I started the Vijay singh Golf game to show my friend the 3D capability. Then I quit the game and started off Opera and this is whta I get... sorry for the bad bad bad pic quality as I only have my good old P910i with me at that point of time but I guess we all can decifer what it is saying from the screen. This 100% confirms M600i has got serious memory leakages or seriously high memory requirements that even 64MB of RAM memory is not enough, in which case, it is even worse than, I seriously do not like what I am going to say, but... it really is worse than WM devices with its memory requirements at the current R1B01 firmware:-(

Can anyone help with me ith active sync exchange server setup. I downloaded the file and filled up all the information but i am getting an error saying httpErrTransactionTimedOut. I have checked my setting 100 times and they seem correct. I am using 4smartphone.net for my exchage server. It worked flawlessly with my k-jam. I would be really grateful for any help.
Many thanks

Its here and its beautiful
Important: when you first get your M600 and remove the cheap screen protector it seems to leave an invisible surface of sticky stuff which makes it difficult to use the stylus for normal hand writting entry - so use a good PDA screen cleaner/wipe to remove this sticky residue. Also I don't like the stylus, its not as smooth as other ones that I have with Palm PDAs

A small report from my experience:
I got a black M600 in the first batch released in sweden 2 weeks ago. price 4200 SEK. (420 euro)
I used my phone for one week. I dont think the phone is ready for release. Very slow. A lot of bugs. I had to restart 5-10 times per day. Sometimes switching apps took like 10-30 seconds. Its just not usable to sit and wait that long for your phone to come out of its coma.
There where many other troubles, like one thing i could not figure out; If i created a spreadsheet in quickoffice and saved it, it was read-only when i opened it next time. I found no other way to save it than to give it a new name every time...
I find the UI and its lack of options and setting as targeted at bussines people that have no clue about configuring you mobile, "so lets remove all the options"...
I read in this thread that you could use the online update from another phone and it would anyway recognice my M600 and make the upgrade. Since my phone was not usable anyways i decided to give it a try even if some of you had problems.
At 95% the upgrade stopped. After waiting an hour i shut it down and after that my phone was dead. I tried restarting online update again but it just said i had the latest version now.
I took it to service at mobilbyrån in stockholm. Waited one hour for a flash but they could not fix it. Then i went to Engström south of stockholm, the biggest service centre around here. They could not fix it. They did not have the right gear yet to fix it and no replacement phones. Ericsson had instructed them to ship the first 50 that came in down to Lund in south sweden where sonyericsson development has its headquarters, and wait until replacement phones are sent. They did not know when such would come. This was one week ago. I do not know when i get my phone back.
This reminds me of when i bought a siemens S40 long ago. It was also not ready for release and it took some time before i could use the functions i wanted. I promised myself never to buy a siemes again since i felt it was not fair to the customer to release the phone to early.
I hesitate to make this promise to myself about sonyericsson since i like the phones and i am also a bit nationalistic. But this and the memorystick thing (i dont like memorystick, and even less after yet another format of it in this mobile) makes me come closer and closer...
/Andreas

nyback: Interesting stuff, and how to make a Guy nervous - I'm literally parting with lots of cash hopefully within the hour when stock arrives, and its a lot more than 420euro!
After 6 months of O2Exec use which not only wasn't ready for release but each update didn't make it any better, I'm looking forward to a change of OS. I can put up with bugs just so long as they are fixed in a timely fashion.
There seems to be conflicting information about just how buggy this phone is. Some seem happy, others not. Perhaps its down to what you use it for and what your expectations are?
Wavering on the edge of not buying.... Ahrrrrrr!

I am sorry to hear that about you phone....I agree with you, the phone is not nearly ready to be released, they need a major, major software upgade for it to hit the main stream. I am still having problems with the exchange server. |
