I don't know if any of you caught This Week on BBC 1 last night (after Question Time), but there was a Muslim girl on it who was bang on about the cartoon situation. Her psoition was basically that the cartoon situation has been hijacked by extremists and hate mongers and that such people should go live somewhere else if they hated the UK so much and leave the vast majority of peaceful British Muslims to live their lives in peace. She also had quite a bit to say on the relative inaction of the Muslim majority in Britain and she called for them to stand up and show that they did not approve of extremism in a more proactive manner.

As if she hadn't spoken enough sense she continued by saying that the London protests were unbelievable because the police did nothing at the time and she compared the protest to a BNP protest and observed that if it had been the BNP protesting and shouting hate filled slogans the police would have waded in and carted them off. She asked the question as to why Islamic extremists were apparently being treated as a special case.

She also informed the viewers that there is to be a protest in London this weekend by Muslims against the hate filled protestors we saw marching through London earlier in the week. Bravo I say! It is about time too; perhaps at last the Muslim majority will stand up and take Islam back from the extremists who have coloured it with hate and violence.

I liked this girl very much, for two main reasons. First of all she spoke sense, something that seems to be as rare as hen's teeth these days. Secondly she was not cowed by the PC brigade and she spoke her mind and said what had to be said without fear of being labelled or tarred.

In my search for removal of extremist from religion I can across this guy in a thread from http://www.islamicboard.com. If members could kindly take the time to read through some of his posts I think your agree this person represents what Islam is all about.

These replies where from a similar topic to this one about the cartoons.

My bros and sis out there...
don u think its better to b peaceful than to terrorize pple out there...

why cant we juz show them that Islam is really peaceful? why? why cant we do that? is it so dificult????

i'm not sayin that we cant protest ...insted we hav the rite to protest, but i also think that we shud do it peacefully..

even our rasul s.a.w took the mocking from the disbelievers peacefully. he didnt burn down their house...

so what i propose to muslims out there to b peaceful at the same time justify our rites as a muslim...

Anyway Allah s.w.t is the All-Knower and i think Allah know what to do with the dannish journalist....

And i also think that we shudnt harm the innocents...

Quote:

y r we talking about the west? when we ourselves arent improving...

the extremists are distorting Islam's image!!! and thats why the danish journalist dare to come out wit such pictures!!! what r we goin to do with the extremists, terrorists etc.??? are we goin to let them defame Islam with the terrorizing when our Prophet Muhammad s.a.w work so hard to bring up Islam in a peaceful manner....

Quote:

i think the danes has reasons to why they published the cartoon if of our beloved prophet. and the simple reason is the fact that some of us are still supporting terrosist which has defmaed Islam and Muhammad s.a.w!!!

Let me rpeat maself!

THE TERRORISTS HAS DEFAMED ISLAM AND MUHAMMAD
till that the danish papers dare to come out with such pics!!!

so! bros! i'm proposing that we hav PEACE CAMPAIGN or sumtin to promote islam to the world... hence we r tellin them that we r a peaceful religion!!!

Quote:

even or beloved Muhammad s.a.w, when mocked, he didnt burn the mocker's house , did he.. we realy need to reflect on thiis...

however, i'm not saying we cant protest... we can and we shud! we hav the rites to protest but in a peaceful manner! i hope u all get what i'm tryin to say!

Quote:

me myself as a muslim, i think we as muslims mocking the jews is vry vry wrong!! i kno that u all r frustrated and angry at the Danish journalist! But instead of mockin the jews , we shud b showing them wats right and to b a role model for them... so they can follow the peaceful way of islam..

Its just a shame that many overlooked his words of wisdom.

ps what does 786 mean in Islam (I don’t mean “our” 786kbr) but there was another member on this forum with the number in her name. Or is it just coincidence?

\"786\" is the total value of the letters of \"Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim\"(Muslims First Prayer). In Arabic there are two methods of arranging letters. One method is the most common method known as the alphabetical method. Here we begin with Alif, ba, ta, tha etc. The other method is known as the Abjad method or ordinal method. In this method each letter has an arithmetic value assigned to it from one to one thousand. The letters are arranged in the following order: Abjad, Hawwaz, Hutti, Kalaman, Sa'fas, Qarshat, Sakhaz, Zazagh. This arrangement was done, most probably in the 3rd century of Hijrah during the 'Abbasid period, following other Semitic languages such as Phoenician, Aramaic, Hebrew, Syriac, Chaldean etc.

If you take the numeric values of all the letters of the Basmalah, according to the Abjad order, the total will be 786. In the Indian subcontinent the Abjad numerals became quite popular. Some people, mostly in India and Pakistan, use 786 as a substitute for Bismillah. They write this number to avoid writing the name of Allah or the Qur'anic ayah on ordinary papers. This tradition is not from the time of the Prophet -peace be upon him- or his Sahabah. It developed much later, perhaps during the later 'Abbasid period. We do not know of any reputable Imams or Jurists who used this number instead of the Bismillah.

Rally against incitement & Islamophobia Today 11th February.

The London Central Mosque Trust & the Islamic Cultural Centre and leading British Muslim organisations are to jointly hold a peaceful rally in Trafalgar Square, London, beginning at 1.00pm on Saturday 11th February 2006. Public figures from across the political spectrum are expected to unite to protest against the rising wave of xenophobia towards Muslims across Europe and the gratuitously offensive caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) which have been reprinted in many newspapers around the world.
