Definitely off...... can you see why? Hehe..... Its simply beautiful and very High Tech.. not a phone.. but an incredible looking Convergence Device... Like a Motorola "Q" but much better button execution...

Yep i must admit that is pretty cool.
Pictures speak louder than words, how tough is the screen compared to the p910i? and how good is the internet via wifi?
cheers

Not sure I understand your first question....but the downside of the new P990i is that it has a much smaller screen than the P800/900/910 and is approximately 2.8 inches which is the going screen size these days... However, the brightness and clarity is the best I've used outside of the W900i..... could be the same LCD... I'm pretty sure it is... The only device that is superior to the P990 is my Universal which has a 640 X 480 resolution and is of course..extremely sharp!! But the P990 is by far the best of the small Smartphone handsets I've used...including the WiZard, JAM, MPx, SamSung i730, and a few others.....
Smaller Screen..... than old Pseries phones..... Damn, I remember when the P800 at 4K colors was a Super impressive display..... how far the technology has come so quickly...
Internet via WiFi is Superb, the P990i's on-board browser has small page rendering and will browse in "Full Screen" as well as "Landscape"... Pages load very quickly and faster than the WiZard using IE ..... I believe that this browser is probably a development by Opera..... but I can't confirm it.. I tried loading the new Opera Browser on the P990i but it would not accept it and gave a "Non-Supported File Format" error...... The only criticism I have is the smaller screen for viewing the pages...but it is so bright...and clear.... and you can change the font size if needed... Of course, coming from a Universal, everything is gonna be alittle bit of a disappointment when web browsing or viewing email and video....
Compared to a WiZard while WiFi browsing in full screen.....

basically the first question was the strength of the screen, is it tougher than the p910i? i.e. when you press the stylus on the lcd does it push on the screen or is it quite tougher than the p910i?
Just curious?

any sign of a Flash Lite player on there?
Would love to see how it performs on the UIQ 3 OS.

Bengal,
Thanks for all what you've been doing.
About the new screen. When you write that the P990's is much smaller than the one on a P800/900/910, can you get number as to the actual difference, height/width in mm if possible?
I see the new one as only so very slightly smaller. Being set a little higher might give a casual impression it's actually shorter than older ones.
Is/isn't that the case here? |

As of yet, there is support for 900/1800/1900/2100 (UMTS Europe) only.... no announced "A" variant yet...

@Bengal Boy, just read tazmania comments. Ignore this chap. We appreciate the effort you make to bring the latest devices to the Symbian and WM communities and you do this in your own style.

The P990i's screen is 2.8 inches, 262K colors, with touch screen unlike the W900i. It is harder than the P900 touch screen in terms of resistance and easier to react than the WiZard's screen to stylus pressure. I am very impressed with it and the camera quality.
No flash support that I see in the browser menu...but this is a Proto-Type and final firmware may include it.
Jah, thanks, as a lot of the older Members know I've been doing this since the first P800 was introduced and alittle bit before doing the same thing with girls and photos of the phones,,,,Gee, just look at my Sig? |

Hehehe... I wouldn't really say the P800 had an impressive display... even during its time. It kinda came late when all the PDAs and mid-high end SonyEricssons had 16bit displays... but ya I get what you mean.
Thanks for the review!
