Didn't somebody who knows something say that the UI will be completely new designed with Android L?
Yes, the new UI! !
How much difference in UI are we talking? completely new UI or slight changes?

The main thing that needs to change in the UI are the icons Sony use. They're pretty horrible imo.
They could include some better wallpapers also....

I heard/read somewhere that Sony will remove pretty much all skinning and leave Android L's Material Design in place.
An idea I am all for. I really love the Material Design philosophies. It really is a very mature look and feel. I like it so much I'm adopting some of the ideas in my current design work.

I hope Sony will add the ability to use icon packs and themes... and also the number of columns+rows in home screen along with the gapping between them... and if they can add bottom icons screens also it will be awesome...
the problem with these customisation that in most cases it will slow down the UI...
Thought I've seen some fast and customisable launchers before like my current launcher Holo Launcher.

I really hope that Sony does adopt a flatter design style inspired by Google's Material Design. The current Sony Android experience is full of gradients and shiny stuff which is so dated design-wise. Modern design is flat with vibrant colour so I'd love to see that in my next Xperia.

I really hope Sony does bring some nice ICON'S n DESIGN and also include dozen's of wallpapers, I dont understand why they cant include a good set of wallpapers thats the least they can do.
Sick and tired of old UI.

I'm glad that Sony has not (so far) adopted this flat design that everybody calls modern and fresh. Sony's icons and UI are way more professional looking and user-friendly than Samsung's and LG's etc. 'Flat' and 'Minimalist' are excuses nowadays to cheap out on design & expense. I know this is just my opinion; everyone has theirs. I'm sorry but I loved the days of dual-faced handsets and quirky and creative designs that sparked interest and conversations among consumers. Now more or less all phones look the same

Material Design in Android L is simple and clean but certainly not flat.

I just love the current Sony icons and UI... Way better than any overblown "flat/minimilastic" ui. |

flat = hipster stupid stuff
I love current sony UI design, that is, the skeuomorphic design philosophy.
There are no more barriers to cross. All I have in common with the uncontrollable and the insane, the vicious and the evil, all the mayhem I have caused and my utter indifference toward it I have now surpassed.

I really don't like the icons. I really don't like the skeuomorphism, but I can deal with it. The fact that the icons look so incongruent and lack uniformity in terms of size and general shape, really passes me off.
Also, explain how the flat stuff is "hipster"? Please explain. Cause I don't see it. You can not like it, but it is not even remotely hipster. |

I love the Android L look. I think it's great. Hopefully Sony will also incorporate that material design elements in their next UI update. |
