Thanx guys, my only regret was that it fell on a weekday, and a Monday at that. How's the Cape Town voting situation looking, Brix?

@krypsta: Despite bad weather people still made their mark. I hope the ANC loses Cape Town, their officials have become just too arrogant.

The W550i is now going for £119.99 (approx R1350) and the K750 for £159.99 (approx R1900) on O2 PAYG, when bought with £10 airtime from the UK's Carphone Warehouse. The CPW phones are unlocked, and O2 branding is minimal..not even on the housings.
Not sure if this further reduction in price of these two now-older SE phones is a direct result of the news and exposure of the new SE handset launches this week, or just another typical price drop...

Probably news of the W530(which has expandable memory to 1Gig) led to the price drop. Down here the phone is still selling for about R2199(on Vodacom) excluding starterpack which comes in at R199.
EDIT: Talking of craziness, check out this offer by South African member for the P900 back in December 2003.
What price for a brand new sealed P900? Well, wait for this.......R7050.
Thanks Lord we've come a long way since then.

Damn! Quite a penny back then....
Could anybody give a nice concise answer- why does the usage of gprs run a battery down so quickly? I was asked this today, couldn't quite answer it to my satisfaction...

In my case I use gprs via bluetooth. So I assume that my battery get used up quicker because of blue.
But in general the phone maintain an active connection when using gprs, so its more like an active call. |

Its quite simple really, with GPRS, your phone is constantly transmitting (uploading) and receving (downloading) data, which is quite similar to making a call. The display lights also puts a drain on the battery when you use the internal browser, just as the built-in modem also does when you use your phone as a modem to connect to the internet.
However, in standby mode, gprs has no effects on battery life. |

@amby: Good explanation, I've got recharge my phone on the daily cause I'm always on GPRS.
@da wanqsta: Weather in Slaapstad was really crappy this evening so the last place I wanted to be outside but have to give it up to the Proteas, awesome performance this evening...you'll never get as clinical and comprehensive as today's victory against the convicts.

Ntini really went thru those batsmen with precision, brilliant play imho. Let's see how the current match ends... Oz had been approaching 200 when i last heard.
