@ all: well a friend/member/ericsson fan of us has lots some of his collection due to a typhoon.
his name is bleurdeur.
inspired by the ericsson response team i came up with the idea, that we could send him some phones that we have 2 or maby more off.
boba will be sending him a R320s
and i will be sending a T28s and HBP-10

|
I'm also part of it!
At first I'll upgrade the R320s to R320s TEMS pocket and will have a look what will also find a way to a new collection. I think it will be some good old ones like a GH197, a GH3xx and a T10s.
@all: Come on, we need some more!

My first /// was a PH337. I bought it used at a price of 450DM ~ 225EUR at the end of 1995.
Sadly I sold this one lateron to buy a PH388. So I don't have my first /// in the collection. Just a 'normal' PH337 which I later bought to get it back.

My one was 337,with that ball-aerial,but i managed soon 388 with spare batt and deskcharger. It was usually a kind of ceremony to discharg the batts, sometimes i was sitting next to the charger and waiting its charged full. Was so happy when i managed beltclips, was way comfortable as to have the fone in my pocket. I was the only one in with that masterpiece, when i went out in the evening, everybody else had to turn on the light to check the reception, i just looked on the blinking led ;-)

Hello /// people!!!
Words could not fully express the state I am in right now with all the proceedings that is taking place in reviving of what seem to be a damnned circumstance already.
I am truly amazed with the eagerness & drive wholeheartedly demonstrated & initiated by "BART & BOBA". Not only does this make me go down to my knees & shed tears of joy for which I thought was a hopeless case but now has been rekindled by you people.
To everyone joining in this cause or even the people & members who had inquired. Please accept my humble gratitude in all these undertakings.
I dont know if this is appropriate, but one of the most loved amongst my slaughtered collection was my R380e which was truly, I guess the only one during the time I had it here in my country. It fell from the topmost shelf in my room as the roof caved in from the storm as I was told. I couldnt even have the guts to look at it nor take a picture.
Neverthelss, any & all of your kindheartedness is welcome & will be cared for (even moreso) since these are all sent to me with heart.
May God bestow all your efforts & achievements with His grace.
I am in debt for all you actions...Thank you so much for allowing me to revive my /// legacy.

@boba
well actually what happened was I used to have 2 R380's then, an R380s & R380 World. There was a time wherein I had the backframe of my R380s changed at a service point but I dont know what made them loose all audio within my unit, so they replaced it with an R380e which I boasted to everyone here since it had a clearer backlight, more stable FW, 2 games, enhanced battery life & the killer blue denim color with silver keypads.
Under normal circumstances, the R380e is not commercially available in the Philippines, so I got mine from Ericsson during that time as a replacement. How I miss it so much...well so much for it now |

I do can understand your feelings :-( imo that colour combination was the best among that series. A kind of r520 backlight would have fit it more imo

Yep you're right, I just wonder how the signature emerald film backlight would've looked like on the R380e, also do take note that no other mobile phone manufacturer produced that kind of "backlighting technology".
Truly, \\\ was the leading innovator during its time. Which is why everytime I would see an \\\ unit of mine then, I couldnt help but clean it & keep it in its best condition despite the aging factor.
Please know that all units should they be sent will be given the signature "bleurdeur" care.

What was the purpose of GS18? Was it used like a mobile modem? What's on the CD shipped with it?

GS18 is build like Orbitel 905.
It has a build-in modem and therfor can be used for fax or mobile internet with a PC or laptop. CD contains mobile-Fax/SMS SW.

There have been two handsets with this 'special' design.
GS18 and GO118.
Both are Orbitel handsets (905 and 907) in a new cover with Ericsson branding. They are sold just a short time after Ericsson has taken over Orbitel UK. Looking at the menu shows, that the R290SAT could also be developed by Orbitel and Ericsson has taen this project to it's own.

The GS18 CD again. Here's what's written in the info.txt:
The software contained on this CD is intended for use on a PC running
Microsoft Windows 95. Clicking on the CD icon should cause the setup
programme to run automatically and offer to load the SMS Manager,
Delrina WinComm Lite, Phone Manager and Delrina WinFax PRO 7.5 packages. If
for any reason this does not happen, each file can be loaded manually as
follows;
SMS Manager - double click on the file smsmgrsetup.exe
Delrina WinComm Lite - double click on the file wincomminstall.exe
Phone Manager - double click on the file phonemgrsetup.exe
Delrina WinFax PRO 7.5 - double click on the file winfaxsetup.exe
To install a device driver for the Ericsson GS18 handset by hand, double click
on 'My Computer', 'Control Panel', 'Add New Hardware', 'Next'. To the prompt,
'Do you want Windows to search for new hardware?', answer 'No', then 'next'.
Select 'Modems' from the list, then check the box 'Don't detect my modem; I
will select it from a list' and then 'Next'. Click on the 'Have disk' button
and select the file 'GS18.inf' from the CD root directory and click on 'OK'.
The GS18 modem information will then be loaded. Note that this is
automatically installed by the setup programme.
This CD also contains a Technical Reference Guide which has information
about the Data, Fax and Short Message Service (SMS) command set for the
Ericsson GS18 handset. This can be found in docstech_ref.doc. This file
is in Microsoft Word 6.0 format.
