We are back... I hate this tech issues..
I bet name is XZ2s
So if it has this new 48MP , of course next will have too with the monochrome.
Sadly, I was expecting at least a bigger one.
Difference between 1/2 and 1/2.3 is little, like 1/2.3 to 1/2.5

I prefer his design to the XZ2, although might be a bit big with those bezels + 5.9 inch display.
Onleaks has a very good track record, so I’m inclined to believe this render is correct.
Does anyone have any info about the sensor though? Is it imx400, imx586, or another new unnanounced one?
Not sure why Sony would not put the new sensor on their own phone tbh, but sounds like it is up for sale to other OEMs and also doesn’t capture super slow-mo... so hoping there’s another reserved for Xperia.
Also did anyone manage to get a screenshot of the XZ3 Compact page Xperia Japan tweeted? Or there was nothing at that link to begin with? |

Zackbuks said the render is fake.
I don't know...
Nah, "fake" means not 100% accurate on his mind. To be frank, Zackbucks is kind of the spokesman of Sony China. He has the responsibility to wash out every rumour.
I personally trust Onleak based on his history. He makes this based on the CAD data. Maybe some parts are not true. The only possible outcome is that the device is for XA series. I also heart some people said that.
I am more interested in those upcoming earbuds and the anniversary device (if that is true). If there is no such phone than I go back to XZ2. I love LCD and sharp corners.

The anniversary device would have to be this year since this year is the 10th anniversary
Also what upcoming earbuds are you referring to?

WH-1000XM3, SP900, and a new ANC device which the body like WI-1000X, WI-H700 and WI-C400

IFA is a big day for every SONY rather than just mobile. Hoping for SP900 can fix the poor connection and battery life on SP700/WF-1000x (they are the same core with different case)
Regarding the XZ2P release, we can see SONY taken a different approach in the different market. In ASIA, they trend to release ASAP. Even in Japan, they had changed the date from August to 27th July. In Europe and US, they release after every software is finished. That may explain asia is very important to SONY Mobile at least. They need to push out everything quickly to avoid user switch to other brands.

This new imx 586 is a stacked CMOS
More advanced that imx400, no way XA series gets it.
Maybe imx400 next year.
There are still 4 FCC ID left out there. Even if R2/R2+ exist, one more is on the way.
Let's suppose H84 has imx586.
Why would then I81xx have another new sensor for CES/MWC?
Unless Premium starts to have own sensor, then another for mid and compact.

IMX586 is Mid-Range Sensor-Like XA3.....
IMX586-No 1GB DRAM, No 1000FPS, No 4K HDR, No 3-Layer Stacked

IMX586 is the public version of IMX600. It doesn't have any DRAM inside so lack of super-slow mo feature. No way that Xperia will use it. |

If it does not have DRAM, why does Sony call it stacked? |

if it’s so certain new Xperia won’t use imx 586... what will it use?
What’s the likelyhood of another new (Xperia-exclusive) sensor accompanying it?
If it launches with the same nearly 2-year old sensor for 10-year anniversary it’s a bit of a joke. |

it supports hdr, maybe even greater hdr
3.Four times greater dynamic range than previous products and real time output
this sensor's specs look pretty similar to p20 pro's main sensor.
and obviously it's for flagships...

Stacked is not necessary means it have DRAM. PCB + Senser already means "stacked"
