I think, as the tournament is over, with a well deserved and surprising new champion, it would be rather nice if the feud between the portuguese and english supporters would come to a screeching halt. I seriously doubt I am the only one who's completely had it with the argument.

I dopn't know why you all think that game was the most important of the tournament, let me assure you it wasn't since neither one of you holds the cup.

Now can we please move on??

Oh and Arez..... yes a tie which is decided by penalties, shows in the books as a tie
Or did you think it would show as ending in 6-5 or something?

Shortly after the game, several international referees were interviewed by the English media, and they all said Urs Meirs made the wrong decision, the goal should have been allowed. Since we cant go back in time, theres nothing anyone can do about it, therefore no point in talking about it now.

Pathetic. Do you understand french, spanish and italian??? Well, i do, and i read exactly the opposite. I bet the "english media" you are refering to it´s the UFO magazine, the Mirror, the Sun, etc. Meyer himself said i´ll do it again after seeing the images. UEFA supported his decision. Now, if you have differente rules over there in the islands, the problem is yours. Its well known your euro cepticism, so i´m not surprised you use american football/playstation rules in the Premiership.

This is from todays Guardian http://football.guardian.co.uk/Fiver/0,4022,1254599,00.html :

Quote:
PROUD TO BE ENGLISH?
The Sun and the Daily Mail for whipping up such xenophobic hatred against Swiss referee Urs Meier that he received death threats and was forced into hiding. All for making the correct decision in the England v Portugal match.

Still blind Etaab????

And yes, you were outplayed and outclassed. We had more possession, more shots at goal, etc. We did the the "tango" with you, and we passed, you didn´t.

We will do it again next time, nothing to worry about Figo and Rui Costa are ending their careers, we have a great new generation. You can see it in Athens in August - where´s yours????

Quote:
Russia and Spain, are good well balanced teams but not exactly in the same league as teams like France, England and the old German teams

Well it seems to me you are putting England over Spain, #3 of FIFA ranking, and comparing it to the former European Champion and best team of the world, France. I think you are really convinced you have a mighty team.

@vlam, i was refering to the statistics of matches between two teams (number of victories, defeats and ties), not the results. I´m almost sure the victorys in penalties count as...victories.

About the portugal-england game, it was the best or second best game of the Euro, so its natural people talk about it. Even more when people from the country that invented "fair play" seem to have lost it.

@Arez... more offensive and fictional posting... *yawn*

Portugal V England was the best game of the tournament ?

It was too one sided, England played terribly so they deserved to lose. It might have been the best match for small-time teams like Portugal but to the English, it was just another match against a weaker team they would have won if they'd played well on the day. But they didnt.

@energetic.. Yes Greece are the champions.. isnt it GREAT !

Looks to me you have no arguments, or will you post something real (??is that possible????) from the Mirror or the Sun to face my Guardian article, or erase you post where you clearly overrate England?????

Let me put it again, for the record:

Shame...

And you did it again:

You´re really so full...eh eh You´re so powerful, eh eh Who could have guessed

Ah, and i said the best or the second best game, i was thinking also in the Czechs vs Holland game.

And yes big congrats to the Champion Greece, and to the Vice-Champion and excelent organizer of the Euro, Portugal.

No, i've already stated my points in previous posts so theres no need for me to continue replying to your childish comments. If you knew what you were talking about, it would be a worthwhile discussion, but no matter what i say you'd still be convinced that what you say is the truth.

There is one thing that makes me laugh however. You made your previous post, and then went away to research some bad press on the England team and came back to use the Guardian extract. However, if you knew how the English press operate, you'd realise that no matter how good or bad the England team play, the British press always flame them.

A great man once said ' its a sign that one has lost an argument, when one resorts to name calling '. This quote applies to you Arez.

I read the Guardian every day. I consider it one of the best sports sites in the world. The article is from...today. No search was needed.

They don´t "flame" the quality of england´s game, they talk about tabloid mumbo jumbo, and their blind followers (from what i read, your one of them).

The difference between you and me, his that i have facts to prove my points...you have...nothing, besides arrongance.

A portuguese saying, for you: "the worst blind is the one that doesn´t want to see"

Lock it at will

Insults?? Calling you blind?? Tabloid follower?? Huh, i´m mean. I´m a very bad boy. I´m so rude.

You´re also amusing.

Don´t lock it.

I think you´re trying to aplly the "repeat a lie many times, so it becames truth" technique. Well, it may work with the tabloid crowd, not with rational people

On the other hand, if you really believe the nonsense you say, i think you should be studied in a university lab... A real wonder...something...

But you´re not alone...people, see this:

the Justice for the England Football Team Petition to UEFA.

AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH

lol

Congrats for the greeks, great team and regularity in the field. Portugal thanks for the happyness you give me. "Like a force that no one can stop" even a defeat in the final!

The English problem: live in an island! phisically and mentaly!

haha ! no man they just played to win - determination and lots of defending. In a way its the best way to play, get the winning goal and spend the rest of the match making sure the opposition dont equalise.

It makes it a little cheap on the oppostion, and a little boring to watch, but hell, it worked for Greece !
