So the name is decided when Xperia 1 was announced? If x0 is real I don't think they'll go with 1.1 because next 0 would be 0.1 which doesn't make sense.
High mp and mono were rumored for 0. By large lens I hope they mean a quality glass lens with great ois.
For midrange, as long as they keep bad socs design and build won't make any difference. |

RGB and mono of XZ2P have virtually same size.
7.73 and 7.85.
If both come 1/1.7 for example, the surface is 160mm2.
Considering mono as 3 rgb.
I hope 865 has power to overcome the limitation xz2p had. Like macro, 4K and hdr photo.
One article of androidnext talks about the fear 865 becomes new 810.

He was the one that said in 2019 there would be many super camera phones.
None of them is much different from 2018.
With updates, older phones can handle newer.
How would this 360 video be different from Face in Picture?
I remember it works for video too.

It is weird because since Z1, they have used stuff from other divisions.
Z1 = G lenses + bionz
Z2 = triluminos and stereo
Z4 = LDAC
M5 = hybrid AF
XZP = stacked cmos
XZ2 = 4K 10bit video
Like he says, not easy to do this when different prosucts dont share hardware nor software.

Article says it's sort of a continuation of best of Sony. But this time they are working for those brands to actually reflect their original counterpart.
No word on midrange. It's all good for flagship but midrange lacks direction right now.
It was easier for camera department, they weren't against hundreds of camera makers. They know they don't have time so they should go all in.
360 video BTW is pretty different than simultaneously using 2 cameras. Watch one on your phone, it's like a movable window to that scene. Vr also is a different experience for 360 video, but Vr kind of died, idk how it could boost sales for Xperia.

The duopoly Canikon was higher than Apple/Samsung.
Sony bought camera division of Minolta and their expertise.
While Nikon is only camera and Canon also have printers, the whole Sony is much bigger than two by far.
Sony has much more money to burn.
In theory only Panny is capable to rival Sony, but they focus on video skills with poor photos.
If they want to make Xperia profitable again they have to burn tons of money.
Phones can bring more money than cameras.
Record an episode of Shark Tank with Xperia, go to any famous university and spend few hours with students of photography/videography, bring directors that usually work with Sony Pictures to play with phone and give their impressions, record music video clip of few singers from Sony BMG ...

Well. facts are fact. Samsung make well-made phones, and Sony Mobile is late behind and they're focus on cost down.
early days, sony used old cpus
Z series was glorious time
X (Premium Standard) which was mediocre spec with expensive pricetag, cost down on memory and storage (eMMC what?)
XZ series. huge bezel, single camera. i'm not big fan of bezel-less design and multiple cam(ultra-wide lens is useful. but telephoto lens? meh.). but XZ1 bezel is too huge. and trend is bezel-less with multiple cameras.
xperia 5? they using cheaper Samsung's ISOCELL instead of in-house Exmor RS. and for 5, no more DRAM-stacked-CMOS sensor.
On software side, maybe due to lay-off, lots of well-made sony apps are discontinued. Snapdragon 835 devices won't get android 10. sometimes they remove new features (night light, Digital wellbeing, etc.)

For those that do not know, even iphone uses isocell for 2x zoom since 7+.
There is no exmor with that specs.
Maybe the 1/3.4" is the most apropriated to keep both modules equal.
I do not like to see isocell.
But we do not know if it is just cost cut or lack of option.
Exmor are 1/4" and 1/3" only.
